Obviously this original iRig is designed to get audio from a guitar into the Amplitude App. I suppose there is nothing from stopping you processing audio from sources other than a guitar. But will I be able to use the iRig to get audio into Apps other than Amplitude? Could I for example feed a drum loop from the computer in the Moog Filtatron App via the iRig? Or record a synth into Garageband? After being exremely pleased with the iRig MIDI I'm now looking at the original iRig as a way to do this if possible.

Yes, you can use iRig with any app, and it does support line level.

So does it not matter if Apps usually take an audio input from the dock connector? I believe that it doen't work the other way around i.e. if you have an audio input going into the dock connector (for example using the Alesis IO Dock) then this input won't be recognised my the Amplitude App.Brian @ IK Multimedia wrote:Yes, you can use iRig with any app, and it does support line level.
