Hi, I just wanted to introduce a new app that might be helpful for composers and producers.

Happy Notes Music Composer provides a fun and enjoyable way to compose a tune or play an all-original tune in a live setting simply by sliding and gliding around the android screen with one or two fingers.

Watch video here:

Happy Notes Music Composer can be enjoyed by just about anyone, of any age. This app requires no knowledge of music theory, since the program algorithm automatically generates music notes that are appropriately pitched. However, the user is in full control of the musical composition since finger movements on the screen dictate the general flow and movement of each successive note. Therefore, the user is essentially the composer of the resulting musical piece.

Moreover, this is also the perfect app for musicians and composers with writer's block.. who are in need of some melodious inspiration.

The generated tune can be exported to a MIDI file (only paid version) for easy editing and mixing for your projects.

Here are the links for both the free and paid versions:

Requires Android 2.2 or above.

Thanks and enjoy!

Nice one, this is lots of fun, even though my Nexus One has horrible multi-touch snapping.

I'm trying to analyze this from a programmer's point of view, here's what I've got so far:

Different columns represent note durations, With cols 1-3-5-7 representing 4tr-8th-16th-32th notes respectively. Sometimes you get a mix of note timings when in the even columns, but not often, never from col.2 and rarely from col.6 from my experience. I'd like to see more random mixing of timings in the in-between columns, it helps break things up.

Also, the app doesn't restart if you put the phone to sleep (screen off) and come back, that's annoying and should be handled.

Other nice options (from the menu key?) would be to change BPM and randomize chords without having to restart.

That's my feedback. It's not often I'm on the giving end of app suggestions so forgive me if I've gone overboard, but it's a nice app, I'll be sure to give it to my toddler tonight to see what he thinks :-)

Good luck mate.

Thanks for those suggestions singlecell. I will keep them in mind for the next update.

Hope your kid liked the app. Maybe had some suggestions too?
