I recently ordered my first iPad, specifically for use as a MIDI CC controller and possibly MIDI program change (also for Omnisphere and Alchemy) in my home studio. I was looking at MIDI Touch or MIDI Monitor, but thought I would get some recommendations as I am totally new to the iPad world. I know Lemur is supposed to be the ultimate, but I want something that is simple to setup as I don't have a lot of spare time to fiddle around learning something complicated.

ALSO- I bought an Alesis IO Dock simply because I figured that it would be the best way to have the iPad sitting sturdy on my studio desk, and so I could use its USB port for MIDI (I don't want to use wireless).

Thanks in advance!

I think that is what your looking for, plenty of users etc.

Also, I maybe wrong but I assumed that the Alesis Dock just gave you midi din sockets not usb, so you will need a midi din input port on your daw to accept data from the ipad dock.
No, that Glitch is meant to be there.....

Io Dock has both USB and Midi sockets and touch osc is the most mature of these apps IMHO. It does what it says on the tin. Midi Pads has a free version which you should try.
