Anyone tried this yet? I just signed up and am quite impressed. Basically for a pretty small fee (just over 20 quid a year) I can place my entire iTunes library in iCloud which means instead of having to fill my iPad and iPhone up with songs I might want to listen to I can just take the minimum on the harddrive but access whatever else is in my collection pretty much anywhere. Furthermore anything that is already in the iTunes store will be replaced with higher quality aac versions automatically (that's the "Match" part) and the rest is uploaded from my PC. So far I've had no problems with it and it seems a great way to back up and access my entire music library wherever I am instead of just what I can carry on any one device, and you can have up to 10 devices accessing it.

Yes, I use it and I like it. On my devices, I'm not an anti-mp3 (or bitrate) snob and they sound just fine. Very convenient. Really lets me manage what's on my devices where I'd like to better manage storage. My old iPad doesn't have a huge amount of space to begin with and I keep space open for samples and recordings but can pick and choose music in near-instant fashion.

The only problem is it seems to be a bit hard to get the cloud versions to update quickly - for example yesterday I edited the composer field in my collection as it was full of junk but the junk names are still on my devices. Is there a way to force it to refresh details (same with album art)?

try deleting the song from your device and re-down-clouding it.

I use iTTunes Match and I love it so far. Very comfortable.

It's an awesome service. Great to have my music coming through the Apple TV / AV System plus all my devices wherever I go, loving it!

I still haven't finished uploading stuff not available on the iTunes store though. Could take days when I can be bothered to restart it, especially at my upload speed!

I tried that - it seems like once stuff is in the cloud it is being treated as the master copy, not what is on my PC. That's a bit annoying - I have found if I copy the file to another folder, then delete it from iTunes and iCloud, then reimport it (with the corrected tags) and upload it to iCloud then it will reflect any ID3 changes but that would be a pain to do for lots of files. Let's hope Apple pick up on these teething problems - maybe giving users more control over which copy is treated as the master.

I hate the fact that I need to be online 24/7 (preferably on a fast connection, too). And I hate the idea of anything I may need being stored on whatever servers from Apple (*cough*).
So, no iCloud, no iTunes Match or whatever for me. Never ever!

Of course it'd help if there weren't so many people like you, apparently sheepishly following Apple and their ideas - but oh well, it has always been like that, the majority of folks loved what whomever dictators had on offer until it all crashed...

No need to be so arrogant and insulting, not to mention completely ignorant of the technology industry. The future of technology isn't what you want, it's what the industry wants. And I use what I like, and that includes Apple, but also Linux and Microsoft. So how about not throwing out the bullshit sheep comments?

Apple sold you crap 192kbit mp3's for years and now it's cool that they charge you extra for getting proper quality versions? -dumb-

I'll still just buy cd's.

On another matter. When will Apple make iTunes multi-threaded!??!??? It's f*king pain to use as it is now.

No that's just the icing on the cake really - the cool thing is I now have an online backup of my entire music library that I can access from pretty much anywhere from my iPhone and iPad without having to take up space on their harddrives. I have an unlimited data plan so don't need to worry about using 3G when not near wifi and no, it doesn't really mean my PC having to be online any more than it currently is - you just need that for the initial upload to the cloud or when you want to add more content - such as a new CD. I just added the new PJ Harvey CD I bought this weekend - took no more than the length of time it took to rip it.

I sense a little bitterness there, but I might be wrong.
If you don't wish to use the service, just don't use it.

Apple did not invent cloud storage, this has been around for years.
It's just more comfortable with iTunes match now. If one uses Apple devices to play music, that is.
Personally I love the fact that I have my complete music collection available on my iPhone or iPad, not matter where I go. (if I have an internet connection, of course).

I'd rather have a USB stick or external drive with me, containing all my music. But for completely unknown reasons, Apple doesn't allow you to connect any such devices to your iDevice directly.
What I don't want is anyone to perhaps spy out my music (and whatever other data). That's why all these online storage services are an absolute no go. And it'll be like that as long as I live, regardless of how much Apple and whatever other dictators would like me to use such services, regardless whether it's "on the fence of technology".
As easy as that.
