Hi,
I'm trialling Cantabile and Forte at the moment and its pretty much a toss-up right now.
I really like the Media Player (as one of my priority needs is backing tracks) - I simply load up all the files for a set I need then Mute those I don't need and switch using sub-sessions.
What I also need to do is switch instrument banks/programs for different songs too. I use the same VSTi but just different programs throughout a set but don't want to load up loads of instances and switch bypass through each one - doesn't seem very efficient. I tried creating a subsession with one preset sound then another subsession with another preset however switching subsessions doesn't change the preset back etc.
I know you should be able to be able to use saved programs however for some reason the VSTi I am using doesn't allow it and shows up under 'Program' as 1<disabled>.
Am I missing something here? What is the way to do this without loading several instances of the same VSTi?
With Forte for example you just save a scene with one sound, change the sound preset and save another scene. When you switch scenes the program is recalled. Is there a way to do the same thing?
Thanks in advance.

Changing Patches with sub session should work.
Cantabile Performer allows you to control subsession behavior.
Right click on the plugin name, then go to "Sub-session behavior" and check the options there.
Make sure that "selected program" is checked.
For plugins that do not support banks with multiple patches - in other words a bank is just one patch - you can use the "load entire bank" option to change the "patch" of such a plugin.
Hope this helps to figure out your problem.

Hey there... Thanks for the response!
Just what I need - thank you for pointing me to this feature!
Great tool though - still trying it out and will be back if I have any questions. 25 days left
Thanks for all your help! Tatty-bye for now
Checked this with NI Absynth and "selected program" was checked but still no joy. I tried this with a couple of other NI synths and get the same result - i.e. Program reads as <1 disabled>. Maybe this is a feature of NI Instruments? Others, like Atmosphere, works fine.Right click on the plugin name, then go to "Sub-session behavior" and check the options there.
Make sure that "selected program" is checked.
Woohoo...!!! This worked!!!For plugins that do not support banks with multiple patches - in other words a bank is just one patch - you can use the "load entire bank" option to change the "patch" of such a plugin.
Not sure that Solo allows this. From Sub-session page on website http://www.cantabilesoftware.com/features/subsessions:Cantabile Solo/Performer allows you to control subsession behavior.
And I confirmed this by installing the Solo (Trial version) - a shame.Sub-sessions are available Cantabile Performer edition only.

Glad to help
Right - Solo has no sub sessions, I sometimes forget this...
"load entire bank" is a great option... helps with plugins that have internal sound browsers but no standard vst banks.
Have fun and happy testing
