The studio desktop stand for iPad/iPad 2

IK is proud to introduce the newest addition to the iKlip line - iKlip Studio, the adjustable iPad desktop stand designed specifically for musicians. iKlip Studio is based on the wildly popular iKlip, universal microphone stand adapter for iPad and iPad 2.

Apps like synthesizers, beat-pads and other controllers can be played energetically on the multi-touch screen with no risk of the device moving or sliding. Its flexible orientation allows it to tilt its position from a very low-profile angle - ideal for use with apps like mixers, controllers or synthesizers - to near-vertical positioning for use as a reader for scores or tablatures or to place the iPad behind music keyboard controllers.

Features:

• Sturdy, durable, lightweight, shock-resistant thermoplastic construction holds your iPad securely without scratching or marring it
• Rubber foot-pads grip the desktop and prevent unwanted sliding
• Flexible orientation allows iKlip Studio to tilt its position from a very low-profile angle to near-vertical positioning
• The device can be quickly rotated between its horizontal and vertical position
• All controls, buttons, connectors and camera of the iOS device are accessible
• Fast installation — can be mounted in seconds
• Includes detachable iRig bracket for the AmpliTube range of apps or any other guitar effects app
• Designed and manufactured in Italy

As usual, I would totally have bought the Pre if it went through the dock connector. You guys make cool software, it's a shame whoever made the decision to continually go the headphone jack route had authority. All of your stuff would be positively killer if it were through the 40-pin.

polaris, by using the 4-pole analog in, the iRig PRE can be used for many devices, including Android phones, so when you buy it you aren't just buying an iOS product, you're buying a quality microphone preamp that can be used as the front end for a variety of electronic devices.

Nice...I was really hoping for a desktop version of the iKlip for the iPhone. Plugging the iRig into the iPhone makes it difficult because the weight of the guitar cord makes it want to drag off the desk.

Maybe someday!

Thanks.

Theoretically that could be true - but it's somewhat contradicted by reading "quality microphone" and "4-pole analog in". Since when does the latter offer high quality?
In addition, I'm pretty sure you can get lower latencies through the dock - at least that's what all my personal tests and reports on the net seem to reveal.

Another thing: Why don't you just combine that device with an instrument in? Even if I sometimes could indeed make use of a quick and dirty mic recording option, I really don't see me buying yet another device when one size could fit all. I'll rather wait for someone to come up with a decent all-in-one solution. A dock-based one, too.

I actually agree with Sascha. I guess it's a fine reason that IK wants to offer these devices for brands other than Apple, but A. the sound quality greatly suffers, B. no other device (sadly) has good audio application support yet, and C. IK doesn't develop apps for any other platform, so what's the point?

Additionally, IK was okay with developing the iRig MIDI for the dock connector (not that they had much choice), so it's silly to ignore it for everything else.

IK probably doesn't like seeing criticisms of their stuff, but hey, they're constructive criticisms, and they've chosen to use a public board to spam their wares, so.......

I'm still waiting for the ultimate iOS I/O audio device. I can't believe companies like IK keep bringing out all these different little devices that just do one thing!! So I've got my IK MIDI hanging out of one side of the iPad, the other iThing hanging out the other!! Christ! Why doesn't someone make a box with MIDI I/O, Audio I/O, and whatever other connections are relevant, attach to a lead with a dock connector at the end of it & BINGO! You've got your ultimate iOS studio interface. Alesis came closest with the IO Dock. But do we really need a dock?! I don't really see why the iPad itself has to slot into something! Just give us a flippin box like any other computer audio/MIDI interface! :help:

I hear you guys, and really do appreciate the feedback and ideas. This is definitely a fast-moving market and the tools we are releasing can be brought to you more quickly. That's not the whole idea, of course, and we do have the iRig MIDI so there's hope for 30-pin in the future. We'll have to keep you posted on things like that, and I hope I can even keep my finger on the pulse of what's going on day to day with this market to be honest. It is really competitive and really agile and we're still keeping up best we can.

Anyway, your input is indeed helpful in all of the above and appreciated.

There are some videos done from NAMM on iRig PRE and iKlip Studio now, too:

Are you planning to sell the stand (iKlip Studio for iPhone) separately?

Thanks.
