spent all day on a bassline yesterday, saved it.
now it hangs while trying to open song.
i've tried renaming plugins/vst folder/audio folder to force it to open just so i can rescue the midi file.
any ideas anyone? :(

Post

it's not even saying 'can't find plugin' when i remove it.
just hanging....
(win7 btw)

Maybe it works if you open xt as a plugin in another host

then it wont be able to load external plugins i think

Is this XT 1? ie, not XT2? If it's the latter i could try to open it and save the midi for you.

xt1.
cheers,i'll try it.
but i already removed vst folder plus audio folder, and it just hangs.
is there something in the .ini file i can do?

edit:it doesn't open as plugin version either.
just hangs.

It might be possible to fix the file in a hex editor, or at least get the midi from it if it's still intact. Post the file if you like and I'll try it...

it was actually your Modal i was playing with, well not exactly playing,i made a great preset and was drawing in the midi notes.
saved song,then next day...froze.

Post

i haven't used it in eXT 1, only 2.

i removed modal.dll from my vst folder and tried to load your song file again, when it gets to spicyguitar it spawns a broken window about 100 pixels square. have you used that plugin in other files? that could be your dude :)

if piz knows his way around .ext files by hex well enough, maybe he could try pulling that instrument and see if the file loads then.

I sent a PM with a link to the repaired file. The problem was with Poise... I removed that and the file loaded fine. The hard (but fun) part was figuring out how to delete a VST from the .ext file.

oh,thank you so much piz!

i did try removing my entire plugin folder, and it still hung.
so i didn't think it was poise or spicy, sorry to have blamed modal, rurik,it's just that it was the last plugin i'd loaded.

i'll tell shannon (poise dev) about it.

So let me get this straight, piz - you edited the .ext file into a hex editor and removed the loading of a .dll?

I'm impressed. Want to give any hints on how you went about that? :)
