$20 to get a 64bit Eco AND whole extra kit of audio data. It will be $40 down the track. Normally we sell expansion kits for more than $40. We tried to come up with an offering that gave users something extra at a good price, and allowed us to pay for a year of painful 64bit upgrade work.

Congrats on the 64bit version
$20 for the added value is reasonable IMO.
I have Eco, but also BFD2 and almost every expansion, so I guess personally I wouldn't gain much from upgrading, right? Or is there content added I don't have yet?

I can confirm that the new Eco 1.5 version (64-bit) now works well with Cubase 6.05 (64-bit). The drag and drop feature works as it should and you can now close the program without hiccups.
I find the upgrade policy reasonable.

How about a completely free upgrade just for the 64-bit DLL with no additional kits?

I am pretty impressed with the kits in ECO v 1.0 and the sound sculpting in it too.EvilDragon wrote:How about a completely free upgrade just for the 64-bit DLL with no additional kits?
I wonder also do I really need another kit?
Yes, why not just an 64bit dll?

Q: Where is the extra Kit from?
A: It is another one of the BFD2 kits.
Q: Why not just a dll, for free?
A: It was a lot of hard work bringing our offerings into the 64bit world. Originally we had thought to delay 64bit support until BFD3/BFD Eco 2 because of the amount of rewriting and full retesting required. So this was a way to balance giving our customers something new at a really good price (a whole new kit for $20), whilst allowing us to recoup a small part of the substantial development time.
FXpansion normally gives 4+ years of free updates per product - some companies choose to hit you almost yearly for paid-for incremental upgrades. The push to go 64bit stalled our BFD product cycle, but we thought it was too important to delay until a major update.
A coder's gotta eat... we hope you understand! We tried to make it very worthwhile.
