Hello,

Well everything is in the subject...
Do you know any sample set, similar to those voices you here in the main tiles of "Ghost in the Shell"?

Thanks
David

This is a Bulgarian/Slavic choir.

We are doing one. It has been in the works for a year.

(We're HUGE fans of Ghost in the Shell/Yoko Kanno!)

it's Kenji Kawai, not Yoko Kanno. Yoko Kanno did OST for the TV series (also great by the way;).

and I've found this interesting info:

Code: Select all

Kenji Kawai originally wanted to use Bulgarian folk singers, but was unable to find any, so he relied on the Japanese folk song choir he used earlier in the Ranma 1/2 anime. The song uses an ancient form of the Japanese language mixed with Bulgarian harmony and traditional Japanese notes.

True, but the TV series soundtrack is really awesome AND extensively uses this sound :-)

I once recorded a piece using vocals provided by a Bulgarian choir. Would absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE to see a decent choir library using those kinds of voices and that style of singing. The voicing is truly unique.

A number of songs I've heard over the years took samples from the Les Mysteres des Voix Bulgares series of cds.

Andrew, if you do that kind of library and if it's done properly (as all of your work tends to be) I will purchase it sight unseen! As far as I'm aware there is nothing really like it out there. :D
Available on iTunes, Amazon, etc.

Yep, that series of CDs was a big inspiration for my partner, the other co-founder of ISW (Will Roget). Without revealing too much - since I probably shouldn't be talking about this at all - we recorded a choir of about 12, both as full choir, soloist and sections, multisampled with dynamics/RR and authentic articulations/vowels.

Yes, let's just say WOW!
Let's hope it won't cost me an arm :x :hihi:

ALways loved this track too and wondered how the vocals are done.

Is the choir voices dry or drenched heavily with effects or repitched?

Cool, always loved that, didn't know what it was though!

This song is actually one of several benchmarks i run when i am testing new monitors or speakers. It always amaze me how this song is sounding exceptional even on poor speaker systems. That and GST2 - Kugutsuuta ura mite chiru - pure amazement..art in itself imho

Increase volume enjoy and wait for surprise before song end..
