Hi all,

First draft of the third and last movement in a minimalist piano piece I have been working on:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2357518/music%2 ... os%203.mp3

(The first two were posted here before: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 36#4439036

Any sugestions are most welcome. Also, I am thinkig of investing in a nice tack piano library to render these and other things with. Any suggestions?

Very cool. I'll listen again, maybe with the other two parts, after sleeping, but my first impression is: I like it. Thanks.

Hi, I quite enjoyed it, here are the things that came to my mind:

too many ideas, quite short developments. I loved the beginning but found to be confronted with a new idea every 30sec. or so and was a little disappointed that they were only brought up but didn't develop more. this always has the effect on me that the music starts to lose me as a concentrated listener after a while. Soundcloud didnt show seconds so i cant be more precise here.
The melodies in the bass tend to be too random for my taste. So there are some great strong notes followed by pretty weak kind of motifs. Some transitions toward the end were really good.
I often had the feeling "this was impovised and halfgood but the composer thought that's good enough" (sorry, don't want to sound harsh here..)and I sometimes was not sure if this is what you really wanted..maybe work it out more? ok, you also said it's a draft..so the most impartant work is gonna come now.

However lots of great ideas, would be interested how this developes..I feel this is a pretty early stadium.

I quite like sampletekk libraries..C7 grand or vertikal jazz. acoustica pianissimo is very underrated, I guess. GOod buy for low money. But there are even better (and more expensive) ones around.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for listening guys!

Thanks for the thoughtful remarks forw - a lot to think about. Kind of new territory for me composition wise so I am really grateful for the feedback. I'll have a look at sampletekk, too, Cheers

a very, very good first draft! can't wait to hear the final version! :)

for that style of music you definitely need a library with a lot of round robin samples for notes with the same velocity to avoid that machine gun like effect of having the same sample played over and over again.

Really nice! For piano, I think pianoteq and TruePiano are great. You can also try this free piano: RMM Piano http://www.realmusicmaker.com/rmm-sfz/keys-piano/
