Call me cynical ["cynical"] but I'm guessing with the recent buttering of 'free Soundcloud', that the 64 bit Live will be released soon, with a v9 paid upgrade... Although I see the new update has soundcloud integration... Thoughts? Inside information?

Other Daws and apps have been offering uploads to Soundcloud and Ableton and Soundcloud both being Berlin based seemed to have struck a mutually beneficial deal buy offering a free version of Ableton LIte to Soundcloud users and a premium Soundcloud account (although time limited) to Ableton Users.One would suspect that Version 9 will be 64bit along with a raft of new features perhaps Fx , tools and user requested features, as to when well your guess is as good as mine but perhaps sooner rather than later IMHO

Ableton Live Update: 8.3
We've released Live 8.3, a free update introducing greater stability, automatic updating and direct SoundCloud upload from within Live.

Ah well.. It was nice wishing for a second.

Yes, absolutely! The benefits of a pro account are pretty good, but it kind of puts a sting in the 5 months free since it's so expensive and you would have to abandon features you started to like.

And of course, that IS the point of this whole promotion, to get people to purchase the pro account after their free run. But still stings, and is probably why I'll stick with free and not take advantage of the free upgrade period.

I dont see the correlation myself.

They do offer accounts for less than 250/year too.
Not sure how the features stack up to Pro, but its not expensive.
I did it pretty much just for more time.

I believe it is partly an integrity decision given their SHARE beta in Live 8 didn't work out.

Ableton have done a huge amount now to make it up to their Live 8 customers... the free Amp & Cabinet effects, a succession of special offers for M4L, Retro Synth free Live Pack, and now these improvements.

I have no doubt the next step is the Live 9 announcement which I expect will come in the summer.

Free Soundcloud... 64bit Ableton Live around the corner???
