Hi there,
yes, i know, i'm a bit of a late starter perhaps. But how could i ignore microtonic till four weeks ago? Maybe it looks too simple at first glance. Now i know it isn't. It's very versatile and great sounding and the patternarium is a great source of inspiration.
Just demoed Tremor at the same time but i wasn't blown away at all. Well, Tremor can sound great as well and has much more possibilities. But for me it's much easier and faster to get a good sound out of microtonic.

Does anyone know how microtonic compares to Audiodamage Tatoo? Thought it could be a good addition.

Cheers,
Gerald

To me Tattoo sounds bland and that was when it actually ran! I ended up selling it.I demoed microtonic and it sounds great, with a load of options.I will probably purchase it soon.Tattoo looks great but as there are no demos available i only found out once i purchased that it wasn't for me.

Thanks jethrobull. Didn't find a good audio demo of Tattoo anywhere. Tattoo's sequencer looks interesting though. Was looking for a more TR808/909-style drumsynth/sequencer. So i will probably go for AudioRealism ADM or D16 Nepheton.

I have Audiodamage Axon and it's a very inspiring instrument. But I'd rather have a demo version than a refund policy.

Yay Microtonic :)
An oldie but a goodie ;)
In my opinion, Tattoo is a missed trick, a rare Audio Damage dud.

Audio Realism drum machine is ok, but the D16 plugs are the best.
I am selling Nepheton for $80 btw, quick, before I change my mind...
Drumazon is great too.

Microtonic is awesome :)
I couldn't live without it!

Sorry, ran out of bucks at the moment. My car said it needs new tires.

Somehow Microtonic forced me to do this early Autechre sound:

Awesome :)
Autechre used MT on one of their tracks too by the way :)

Edit:
Just checked it. It's pce freeze 2.8i:

Yeah, pce freeze 2.8i sounds more like the old days. Though Move of Ten is not my favourite Autechre album. I stick more with the "Golden Oldies" like Incunabula.

Hehe, i'm an old geezer. Hey, kiddies, get off my lawn!

Actually, I like Tattoo a lot. I think its a great complement to microtonic, simply because the latter's step sequencer is a real dud.

To really get into what Tattoo does so well, you need to fully exploit the randomisation options. It's so easy to get those sounds to move in interesting ways, and to set up variations on a beat. You have a dedicated step sequencer for every parameter in the synth part!

Sound-wise, it's a good (if not to-the-letter) take on the 808/909 topology.

Use the randomised step sequencer to drive microtonic - instant IDM bliss.

I love 'em all! :)
LP5 and EP7 are probably my favorites though.

So please can somebody post an audio demo or link for Tattoo?
Everything i've found so far doesn't really 'kick me out of my socks'.

How is the 808 hihat/cymbal from Tattoo? Does it sound as complex/metalic. In the sound demos i've found so far it always sounded like a 'pfft' or 'sst'.

Soundwise i always liked Drumatic3, too. But since it's SE it doesn't work fine on my 64bit Cubase, even with jbridge.

Yes, i know i always can use samples. But i want a more flexible solution.

I like Microtonic too.I just wish they'd hurry up with 64bit.
It's coming though

Microtonic is working with Cubase bitbridge absolutely flawless here. But a 64 bit version cannot hurt.

Same here! Just purchased it along with Synplant (great deal), and I'm smacking myself for not having done so long ago.

There's something about MicroTonic that makes it really easy and quick to come up with coherent kits. I think the fact that it uses one drum model for all parts is actually a plus. Also, I really respect the care SonicCharge puts into their design. From the manual:

EQ
A negative gain will cut frequencies from the signal spectrum whereas a positive gain will boost them. When the gain is high, the output level of the channel is automatically attenuated to achieve a more consistent volume.

Little things like that are huge bonuses to workflow. :D

Tatoo:
Sorry I'm yet another post that can't help you. I also own Axon, but do wish AD had demos rather than purchase/return.
Did you see this btw?

Good comparison of the sounds from Tatoo, ADM, and Microtonic with examples.
