Is there anything out there like these good old Roland SP-808 groovemachines?

Like: 16 pads to import your own samples, to then loop them on the fly.

I know about Nano Studio and Beatmaker, but i'd like to see a streamlined app just going for that simple task.
Any hints are welcome. :)

Not what you asked for, exactly, but this looks incredible. I read somewhere that the MPC app will be available w/o the hardware, too.

Check out BeepStreet's iSequence. It's probably not exactly like what you're looking for, but it's a lot more streamlined and "fun" than BeatMaker. Kind of a hybrid between a groovebox and a tracker (but not super-scary like a real tracker is). It's sampler instrument is easy and fun to use (you can import your wavs bundled in zip files to make them easier to import), is set up to accomidate loops, and there are a decent selection of effects.
