I am biased much also,
and recomend Phonics plugs!
However here are my 5 other than my home-grown->
DiscoDSP Thrillme
AcidDose Xhip
Admiral Quality Naive LPF
D16 Nepheton
SonicCharge MicroTonic
I chose these coz they cover a lot of sonic ground,
and also have a little mojo!

Hey. I'll definitely give Amplitube the nod.
I'll also throw in Alchemy, Mix Control Pro, ARIA Player, and BFD Eco. I could also make a case for Crystal, Rhino, Epic Verb, SampleTank, and anything by H. G. Fortune.

These threads are always enjoyable! Although I know some tire of them.
Synths:-
In no particular order:
DCAM Synth Squad
Zeta2
FabFilter Twin2
Rapture
Omnisphere
Effects:
Fabfilter Total bundle (I know it's more than 5 but they're just awesome!)
2C Audio Reverbs (Aether and Breeze)
UAD-2 (massive passive, Studer A800, EMT 250, EMT 140)
T-Racks3 Deluxe
and lastly I'll throw in Komplete 7 (FX, synths, samplers etc)
for orchestral VSL for me

Cool, list time! Haven't done this in a while...
Just going by the ones I use the most/really depend upon right now -
Virtual instruments:
Diva - creamy goodness
Zebra - all-round greatness
Iris - fab mysteriousness
Geist - The workhorse
Diversion - modern prodigiousness
Effects for fun:
Turnado - mangle me musically
Effectrix - set it 'n' forget it instant whackerizer
Sequent - modular mangling
Stutter Edit - hands-on mangling
MFM - a true come-hither beauty with astounding depth-epth-epth-pth-th-th-h
Effects for seriousness:
Reelbus - hisssssssss and glue
Stripbus - console capers
Equality - beautiful sound
Compassion - sound and fury
Elephant - ties it all together
Just noticed that I should have named 10 in each category just to cover the ones I use regularly.
Oh well, another list will come around I'm sure.
