ipg (as per your subject) or apg (as per your post)?

Ummm, fixed that thanks..

Cool, I just wanted to post here about our new app and then I saw this thread. :-D

Some background information about APG Composer:

It's a 3-voice synth / sequencer app for iPad and it's available for free on the app store: http://itunes.apple.com/app/apg-composer/id525426339

It's a fun tool to play around with and also a proof of concept that shows that our Audio Plugin Generator (APG) can also produce iOS apps. Basically, there was no app-specific code written for this app. This means we could take any Simulink model, compile it to C code using Simulink Coder, add that code to the current project (containing the APG source code), and voilà, we have a new app that does something completely different (e.g. a signal generator, a vuvuzela filter, whatever...), with a different autogenerated GUI. If there's a demand for this iOS app creating feature, we may add it directly to the Audio Plugin Generator (more info: http://audioplugingenerator.com/).

By the way, the sequencing part is based on a sequencer I made in 2006 using TTL chips (a total anachronism, I know, but that was kind of what made the project cool ;-D). Pictures of the original circuit can be found here: http://logiqueanalogique.com/

Best regards,

Very cool Fritz. Nice concept, looking forward to seeing more.

It sounds pretty cool..no stop/start button tho?

Wow... very cool proof of concept app!

Thanks everybody for all the positive feedback! Actually the original sequencer had a reset and a pause button (which allows to start/stop). But here I left it out for simplicity.

Well, originally the Audio Plugin Generator was intended to be used for implementing filters, testing hearing aid algorithms, etc. But it turned out to be a cool tool for implementing synthesizers as well...

Unfortunately, Simulink is just too difficult for me to grasp (checked it out) - I am NOT a math whiz. However, thanks for allowing us to play with this.

Too bad, since I really want to create synths for apps, but any true programming languages I know just cannot be used for it and Simulink seems to be VERY math-based - my achilles heel.

@Scott: what I meant was that reset and pause buttons where there in the original hardware implementation (logiqueanalogique.com, bottom picture on the top left and top right), and that pressing pause and then reset is the same as pressing a stop button on some other sequencer.

@Karmacomposer: what should it be like in your opinion? Are you looking for higher level blocks such as envelope generators, oscillators, filters with variable cutoff frequency, etc.? We know that most music-minded people are not using Simulink and we're interested in hearing your feedback on how to make the APG more useful.
