Hi all,
While perusing the forums (and many others) I see a pattern where the same synths get most of the 'air time'…. Massive, Sylenth, Alchemy, Albino, FM8, Kontakt, Zeta, Nexus etc.
I have a couple of these and they're great BUT all of these are pretty old, in VST terms, and some of their UI's show this.

I believe that people can leverage the past to improve on the future so I'm really curious about how the experience with these 'older' synths shape modern implementations.

So, all that being said, what synths are people excited about that are new… say, created since 2010? Is there anything new & cutting edge that should get talked about but isn't getting the same traction as the older synths?

The appeal with older VST's is they sound a lot more analog.

You're under the mistaken assumption that newer = better.

The Lucky Charms I had as a kid kicked ass - and they only had four shapes!

So before you get all kinds of lousy examples of "cutting edge", use Aalto and see and hear why it's the best example. Also check Chipsounds which could show you why the approaches taken by some old synths were and still are far more unique and "cutting edge" than most synths' nowadays.

That's not the sole basis of my question.... but I do believe that we can learn from the past and make improvements upon it. Particularly in the realm of electronics & computing.
In fact that's the basis of all progress, isn't it?

Diva, Diversion, Dune and Aalto are quite "new" and very, very nice

I have become a big fan of Rob Papen's Blade. It is very new. Also check out AAS' Chromaphone. It is very cool. Those are two of my current favs.
