Don't know what to make of it, but you might be interested to know that apparently Apple have acquired Redmatica: http://techcrunch.com/2012/05/30/thats- ... redmatica/
At the very least I hope this means that EXS24 gets a long overdue overhaul.

Probably less cool if you'd use redmatica products, I think they fill in a niche in the sampling market, but there's not much competition I believe.
Still, as a Logic user, it's good to know Apple still feels that it's a market worth investing in.

I didn't expect that. I think Apple needs a good sample editor now that Soundtrack is not available anymore.

I agree, but with soundtrack and waveburner you'd say they have all the experience/code.
Wouldn't mind a sample editor with the stock Logic plugins integrated. Especially if you could directly save it as an ESX instrument....

This SUCKS for those of us who use redmatica products, as I'm sure apple will kill all integration with Kontakt, structure and reason and make it EXS only!!

I guess now it's 1000% certain that Keymap won't see its PC incarnation, which is a shame.

I'm afraid so...LGK_Dude wrote:This SUCKS for those of us who use redmatica products, as I'm sure apple will kill all integration with Kontakt, structure and reason and make it EXS only!!

Yup, that's what I'm afraid as well.LGK_Dude wrote:This SUCKS for those of us who use redmatica products, as I'm sure apple will kill all integration with Kontakt, structure and reason and make it EXS only!!
I didn't know Redmatica until I read about Apple consuming them. But now I've had a look on their Website, and actually Keymap Pro and AutoSampler are exactly what I've been in search of for several months now, "easily sample external MIDI boxes" and "easily create Kontakt instruments".
Both are relatively affordable, so I'm wondering if it's worth getting them now... or whether Apple may force Redmatica to evolve into a dedicated "Apple only" developer, which would mean I'd be fu'd trying to use Keymap or Autosampler with anything else but Logic/EXS, both of which I've deliberately avoided in the past.
Can't wait to see...

One of the commenters on the techcrunch site says he believes Apple could use Redmatica's sample slicing technology to improve on Siri.
I was just thinking, for Apple to improve on their GarageBand/Logic product line, it would make much more sense to acquire Applied Acoustics, given their desire to stuff "real" instruments in GarageBand.

i use the shit out of autosampler and i'm working on a commercial sound library in various formats. i guess my current computer just became my legacy machine to run old software.LGK_Dude wrote:This SUCKS for those of us who use redmatica products, as I'm sure apple will kill all integration with Kontakt, structure and reason and make it EXS only!!
time to back everything up and never update.
this probably means all the redmattica programs will get rolled into a bundle and sold $49 through the apple store... or bundled into some future version of logic..
it is surprising though. does anyone, including apple, know wtf apple is doing w/their 'pro' app division???? i guess this means they haven't bailed on logic... which is the silver lining. who knows what franken-product we'll get out of this...

I'm happy for redmatica. I hope their customer support stays as awesome as it has been. I'll probably get their instrument manager soon just in case they drop support for non-exs formats.

I hear that. I still have a MacG4 to run OS9 plugs, and my G5 to run Atmosphere plugs for sequences I didn't take good notes on. (I have to dig up old songs for clients surprisingly often.)dayjob wrote:i guess my current computer just became my legacy machine to run old software.
I'm happy for Andrea, who is a very, very cool guy. But I agree that this doesn't look good for those of us use KeyMap to make Kontakt libraries.
