IK Multimedia is now shipping the iRig™ MIC Cast, the ultra-compact microphone for the iPhone®, iPod touch® and iPad®. iRig MIC Cast is a miniaturized microphone that plugs into the iOS device mini-jack. Thanks to its tight pickup pattern that minimizes background sounds the iRig MIC Cast so that you can capture the audio you want while canceling out extraneous noise. The unidirectional condenser capsule isolates the intended audio source, yielding dramatically better results than an integrated microphone. Uses include:

  • Creating videos with greater intelligibility and an improved audio track

Just like iRig MIC, IK's popular handheld mic, iRig MIC Cast offers two free apps available for download on the App Store: iRig Recorder, an easy-to-use voice recording/editing app, and VocaLive, a multi-effects processing app for singers.
iRig MIC Cast Features:

Great price, but I'd much rather go with something that has a dock connector, like this:

Which just so happens to be TWICE the price of iRig Mic Cast. Oh and it also works with most Android devices too, which that particular one does not.

So it is less expensive, offers more compatibility with more devices and can get you cross grade prices on other IK products. Win, win & win. ;)

Like I said, the MicCast has a great price, but at still less than $100 ("TWICE the price" is a bit of hyperbole when you're still talking less than $100, IMO) the Tascam is going to sound better, and still works with any Core Audio compliant app.

And since I don't care about Android, that's not really a selling point for me.

Again, just my opinion.

Great can't wait to buy and test it thanks for the info
