I really like how that (mis-named) Ultrasaw shaper allows to get a lovely two-oscillator detuned sound. Together with other waves, I would imagine that Minibrute could produce rather lovely and thick classic mono leads. Can't wait to test it.

I've heard a few demos of it, and hats off to Arturia. I don't rate much of their s/w, but this little thing is hopefully a winner and I'm very impressed with them. I'm pretty sure it's on my list. It's got balls and definitely it's own character. When I heard about it in development, I just assumed they'd go for the standard vanilla characterless 24dB/Oct filters with little or no grit to it - exactly the opposite. Even the short demos give many of the old monos a real run for their money, and actually overtakes many of them. I can see this sitting amongst my 70s/80s synths no problem whatsoever. It sounds like a cracking little special FX machine.
I think they got a superb amount of features into a small and cheap synth. No edit pages, no extraneous midi shite. That also impressed me - there would have been many newbs who no doubt express opinions that you have to have feature X,Y and Z with midi and automation etc and they seem to have resisted that pressure. You don't need anything above basic midi for a mono. It makes you play and program it, and that's always where you get the best from an analogue.
I really am impressed. I'll have to see if I can get it in the UK in September, as I doubt there'll be any in NZ for ages. Worth waiting for though IMO. I now have a Telemark and a Minibrute on my shopping list. TBH, I really haven't been doing much music recently...these toys are exactly what makes me play. There is a great choice of analogues and even digital h/w synths recently and for me it's a blessing. I can't work without DAWs and s/w, but it's tedious - these babies are where the real fun in electronic music is at.
Y'know - I can see this being a synth classic in 20 years. It has all the hallmarks (in its own way) of things like MC202s, 303s, MS20s etc. Compact, full of features, a distinct sonic character, a big enough production run that it isn't a boutique item and affordable by the plebs. Buy one, keep hold of it and in 20-30 yrs it may be a $1000 synth.
