You're going to have to be more specific if you want help.
I don't know if you're dragging it to the right spot, I don't even know what exactly happens when you do drag it.

OMG! [My new DAW] does not perform exactly like [my previous DAW]! This is a piece of crap!

I drag samples from the left into the empty slots where you would put samples from the library. I'm just wigging out with frustration...it will pass.JD Gaffe wrote:You're going to have to be more specific if you want help.

From the sound of it, you're doing it right. Perhaps the samples are in an invalid format? To be honest, I don't know what formats specifically are incompatible with Impulse, but for the sake of troubleshooting, you may want to make sure you're testing with 16/24-bit WAV files, and not MP3s or anything. (Like I said, I don't actually know if it can load MP3s or not... Everything I have ever dropped on it has worked fine.)Eric C. wrote:I drag samples from the left into the empty slots where you would put samples from the library. Also, if you're on version 7 or higher, you might want to try Drum Racks instead of Impulse, unless you have a specific need for Impulse. It is better in almost every way.
As I said less politely above, don't expect it to work exactly like Cubase--most DAWs are similar, but they all operate in slightly different ways. Just try Live for a week or two without getting too frustrated by what's different. If, by that time, it still doesn't feel "right," it's probably not for you.

I've found that Live is pretty good with a wide variety of samples and formats, but maybe this one is something weird.
Can't hurt to convert it to a rock solid standard format and try again.

Well I'm just trying to insert Ableton's own samples from the library...man, and people say Cubase is confusing...LOL. I want to try this though...now it's a challange that I have to take.

You might want to make sure those are actually raw audio samples, and not MIDI clips, track presets, plugin presets, grooves, etc. The browser displays a lot of things that are not plain old audio files, and the factory library is more geared towards instrument/effect presets, so there is a good chance that what you are trying to use is not actually an audio file.Eric C. wrote:Well I'm just trying to insert Ableton's own samples from the library...

Tried the 'hotswap' button? That is for me alot quicker when working with library content.
Unless I dunno what You are attempting to drag where
BTW: IMveryhumbleHO its worth hanging onto Cubase like I did/do with Pro Tools as You'll sure miss the depth of MIDI/Audio editing abilites. I could not get by with Ableton Live alone as much as I really love it FWIW and the sheer fun it is to use/get creative with. A kind of Yin and Yang for me personally. But YMMV

Beat me to it matethecontrolcentre wrote:What version of Live? Are you dragging wavs from the browser onto the pads in Impulse? Do the Impulse presets load alright? Have you tried using the Hot-Swap option? More info please.
