Hello. I was bought (before 2 days, now its shipping to me) Alicia Keys piano of Native instruments. I haven't kontakt but i think use this piano with kontakt player (free). Its ok or should i buy kontakt 5? I find and this:
http://www.native-instruments.com/en/pr ... ayer-faqs/
With kontakt player have i some substantially limitation of this piano? I dont care for effects of kontakt or wave editor. I will only play this piano without problem and have options for cutoff, sustain, automations etc.
Sorry for bad english, i hope you unsterstand.
Thank you for your time.

Download the Player and all works fine! There is no limitation with Alicias Keys or stuff, I use it this time the same way.
With Alicia Keys you get 2 DVDs, the first has only the player. But you don't need to install this. Download the actual version from NI, so you can always test how it works and stuff.
Later use the second DVD and install the library.
The service center software needs the key found on the DVD box to register Alicia Keys.
Eventually you see in the service center an update for a newer version of the Kontakt 5 player. Install this update.

Are you sure right?
Thank you for your time and help.
I ask because i see that in some other user post:
''I've had a lot of instruments I've bought here that only run in "demo mode" in the Player, and it gets WAY old quickly.''
In this thread:

There is a demo mode but for different things:
1.)
You can drag a audio file into the player and can edit this like in the big Kontakt 5. You will see a small watch, showing that this feature is running in demo mode and will run only Afaik 30min. This is to gives an idea what Kontakt 5 can do.
2.)
You can download the demo content for Kontakt 5 (not the player, the full version). There you get some examples eg. for the VSL strings (there is a cello included) and some other stuff. This will run in demo mode 30min or so.
You must of course register the bought libraries with help of the NI service center. Eventually it's better to reload the Kontakt Player after the registration. Without registration it would make sense that the library only runs in demo mode for 30min but I have not tested this, because I registered it before I used it.

You can of course install the Kontakt Player this time and test it in your DAW to see how it works. If you also installed the factory content (it's free too) you can use it now.
If not always created, open an user account at NI.
If you get your DVD box in some days:
1. close the DAW if always open
2. grab the second DVD and install the library
3. open the NI service center
4. you will see Alicia and the option to register it (use the serial number from the backside of the dvd box there)
If all is working with your numbers, you see that your Alicia is registered. Than you can open your DAW, load Kontakt Player and have fun

I found and this for kontakt player.
''The player only works with "powered by kontakt" libraries.
which is different than Kontakt format libraries.
powered by kontakt libraries come with kontakt player, kontakt format libraries do not
you can use both kontakt format and powered by kontakt libraries in the full version of kontakt
but you can only use powered by kontakt libraries in the player
basically the player is just that, it's a player, not the full version, so the sounds have to be made specifically to work with the kontakt player, I think there is some special encoding or something.
not all 3rd parties create their products for this format, many simple make them in the full version of Kontakt and don't license the Kontakt player.
so be careful, if it says "powered by Kontakt" and it comes with an earlier version of Kontakt player, you'll be fine
if it just says Kontakt format, most likely it needs the full version.''

Sorry to muddy the water, stratigos.
The libraries I mentioned were ones from smaller developers here on KVR, not products sold by NI.
I'm an especially big fan of Wavesfactory, but until I can get the real Kontakt deal, a half an hour at a time will have to do...
Also, paulbreeze posted this in the other NI thread, NICE!

wait are you saying we can just download it? I would rather download now than wait the better part of 2 weeks for a box. I ordered 2 days ago and have not heard a word about it from NI as far as shipping goes. I am too excited to just sit down. Of all the Kontakt libraries this is one of the few that I really really wanted and for $30 it was a no brainer.4damind wrote:Download the Player and all works fine! All you can download is the player- not the content.KevWestBeats wrote:wait are you saying we can just download it? I would rather download now than wait the better part of 2 weeks for a box. It depends on the lib(s) you choose. Alicia's Keys is box only, but the Scarbee Bass and Retro, you can only choose downloads at the current prices. But tomorrow is a new day, and that's subject to change!
I just bought both @ $25 usd with the vouchers paulbreeze posted earlier. A deeply expressive bass and a closet full of vintage synths for that price? Life is GOOD! And they're always in your NI account for download if you need them.
Now I just need more drive space and faster computer. Save here, spend there!
