Hi there,

I work on two machines -- iMac for recording, Macbook Pro for track manipulation/development.

If I buy a Mini V licence, will I be entitled to install it on both computers?

If you put the license on a dongle you can run it on any computer you plug the dongle into. If you opt for harddrive authorisation though you can only run it on the computer you authorised it on.

I'm not up for moving dongles around. :^(

I could get the Minimonsta; GForce will let you install on two machines. But there's something in the midrange of the Mini V that I prefer, some thick complexity that really does it for me.
And the latter is almost half the price of the 'monsta. So now I'm thinking of biting the bullet and buying two licences for the Mini V.

If you got the Minimoog V Essential, you can create sounds on the Mini V and load them on the Essential. Besides the extras, they are the same synth.

By Essential, do you mean that free "Original" that they gave out in June? Unfortunately I missed that. :^{ { {

Yes, the "original". Too bad you missed that. Maybe there are still people with spare codes. Lots had more than one, due to the transition from their site to the Facebook to handle the requests. Anyone?

I'm still a little confused about this protection model- the one without the dongle. So you can only have it on one machine. My question is, if you upgrade to a new machine in the future, can you deactivate it on the first machine and put it on the second machine? How does that work?

Yes. What you get is a license file that you must have on your computer at the time you load the synth. The hard drive option is a USB-dongle emulator of sorts. Your license file never changes, you just have the option of moving it between a real USB dongle and a software one. Personally, I've found the process to be a pain in the ass. You have to have an Internet connection for it to work and Arturia's servers have to be up and running when you move the license. There is rarely an issue, but twice now it has been an issue when I've been trying to move out the door. YMMV, of course.

I have used Analog Lab on one computer authorized with eLicenser. But now I want to use the programme on other computers.

I have an iLok dongle, will try to see if I can move the eLicenser licence over to the iLok to use that instead.

Nice little experiment for a Monday afternoon

Doesn't work with iLok. It's eLicenser - the old Syncrosoft licenser, bought by Steinberg. And I don't think it "calls" Arturia servers, rather their own servers. There's an application called eLicenser Control Center where you manage everything. It's not that complicated - pretty straightforward, as long as you follow the instructions.
The only drawback is that, opposite to iLok, there's no central where you register all your licenses. Steinberg keeps track of their own, but the others are managed ... (where?). If we loose or break an iLok, we have a proof of ownership and can have the licenses back (they are registered in our account), but if we loose or break the eLicenser, we are in trouble.
