Remember: Friends Don't Let Friends Demo Synths With Camera Audio.

I swear, if there were a way to reach out and punch people on YouTube, I would do it every time I see a synth demo where the audio is coming from the camera.
Seriously:
Please stop.
It makes the "demo" useless. Worse than useless: misleading, and a complete waste of time.
That is all.

Record audio into a DAW or whatever, record with camera at the same time.3ptguitarist wrote:How do you record audio in sync with video?
Then use windows movie maker or pretty much any video editing software to line up the recorded sound and the video from the first note
I run a netlabel http://oligopolistrecords.bandcamp.com

But but but... The best way to capture the awesome sound of my $10,000 modular synthesizer is with the microphone that's built into the phone I got for free when I signed up for 2 years of cellular service!

Oh man, you've hit on one of my biggest pet peeves, but also let me add that every developer, of hardware and software, needs to post .wav or .aif files instead of MP3s. Trust me, the extra bandwidth will be worth it and if we have to wait, we will. Just make it worth it.Introspective wrote:I swear, if there were a way to reach out and punch people on YouTube, I would do it every time I see a synth demo where the audio is coming from the camera.

Recently I was shopping for a virtual guitar solution. A pretty high end solution. My total budget was $2,000. I couldn't find a single uncompressed example of anything out there! These things are also not something found in stores to demo. WTF? OK, maybe for the little dev that's got a downloadable demo an mp3 is fine, but what does a company making expensive hardware think they're doing by having a all their demos crappy youtube videos? Anyway, lucky for forums where I got good advice, but man, I have no idea what the hell developers are thinking.

As an aside, this also applies to video game walkthroughs filmed on a webcam or camcorder- when there's not even a voiceover. There are so many ways you can record direct from the console/PC.Introspective wrote:I swear, if there were a way to reach out and punch people on YouTube, I would do it every time I see a synth demo where the audio is coming from the camera.
OH!!! And YouTube tutorials that don't have voiceovers or captions, but instead have someone typing instructions slowly into Notepad, spelling mistakes, corrections, and all.
Damn, I just pissed myself off.
