Even the free version is C/R! One to forget until it's $20. Then maybe worth a demo.

Yes, that is ridiculous. Plus that they probably use huuuge amount of CPU, so no thanks..

I think the plugins look very promising and I also think the pricing is extremely competitive IMHO. 8)

As far as the free version is concerned well I think I would prefer to at least have a free version than none, even with C/R. That free version should provide an unlimited demo period to allow one to get a taste of the other dynamics plugs (which likely have demo versions as well if one does not want the free Bus Compressor). :)

It looks very promising indeed IMO

IMO If you consider the inconvenience of the licensing/copy protection then the pricing is irrelevant, if it's above throwaway money. These days there's enough choice, with customer friendly licensing, to disregard any customer punitive schemes such as C/R.

I am very very concerned that fxpansion seems to be spending time developing new products without fixing their existing products first.

Hm, no introductory price? That's unusual for FXpansion.

TBH, I'd rather like to see a full, modular DCAM FX plugin with the transmod system instead of seeing single modules being ripped out of the existing products and sold as separate plugins.

Or simply give me audio input for Fusor ;)

I have no doubt that these plugins are great, but the current concept ("recycling" existing code) and the dangling "danger" of a no-brainer deal in a couple of month makes me hesitant.

I really don't need any new compressors but after being bitten as an early adopter of Etch think I'll wait to even demo this time.

I was surprised by this considering I bought Etch and the newest three DCAM expanders at an introductory price. Their pricing seems inconsistent.

My concern is that I bought the three new DCAM expanders at an intro price when they were first released and now three months later (could be less) they're 30% off in the expander sale.

I'm not complaining too much because I got them at the intro price but putting them on sale again so soon after they've been released seem a bit quick especially if someone had bought them full price after the intro offer expired. They must be kicking themselves.

Concerning the C/P - I own quite a few of FXpansion products so once the licenser is installed it's not too painful authorising software but I wouldn't install it just for a freebie.

These compressors will need to be exceptional because, unlike experimental effects, the competition between devs with this type of plugin is pretty fierce.

It's good, at least based on my 15 minute fooling around session with it. But as usual, the cpu is pretty high. As comparison, with same setting on 1 drum loop, this is shown on my studio one cpu usage list :

The glue 2%, Fx bus comp 6%
DC8C 2%, FX chan comp 4%
T racks black and white 2%

Don't get me wrong, as of now i'm liking what i'm hearing, but since i usually sequence many track i avoid cpu heavy plugin and for a compressor 4% is pretty big.

Just tried the free one out and it is very nice.
As for C/R protection - I suppose that's their side of the bargain. You get a free plugin, they get an account signup.

Yeah, so complaining about a free compressor from fxpansion is just ridiculous. fxpansion makes absolutely fantastic products ... for people who make music.

Ah, you kids are so sweet.

I was naive once. Before Koblo, Kjaerhus and the Mackie server being down for weeks on end. It showed me that it doesn't matter how good the product is, if you can't use it.

And how do you get Orca or Clapomatic from FXpansion? I forget.

Yes, the site is having problems right now, I had to try several times to download the installer. Better try later.
