Apps that will play over songs?

Are there any good apps for playing along with songs in the iPad library? I find the flute in Thumbjam is ok but still not really loud enough. Some NLog patches are very good since they have a volume dial. Am I the only one who finds it difficult to get a synth sound loud enough to be heard over the song. Is there a way to turn down the level of the iTunes library song independent of the iPad volume? Then there's the problem of which synths will play over a song in the first place. Addictive will. Morphwiz as well but it's hard to find a loud enough patch. Anyway to play Sunriizer or Animoog over a song?

That's a great thread but you've hit the nail on the head about the mp3 player with its own volume control, that's exactly what I need! Any recommendations? I'll check the app store.
