Is it possible to use Automap?
I just bought a Remote SL Mk II and am ready to start mapping. It would save a ton of labor if I could get Automap to work with my plugins. For me the important point is to control the instruments. I guess controling Cantabile is not possible, since it is not supported directly.
Any experiences?
Anyone using Cantabile with Novation controllers?

I'm sure it would work fine. Although I've not used Novation controllers (but thinking about getting the ZeRO), but have worked with numerous programmable control surfaces. My guess is the Novation device will ship with commonly used controller values pre-assigned to obvious controls - volume, modulation, patch change, etc... Your VST's should "see" those automatically. Mileage will vary depending on the VST. That will save a good chunk of work.
To get more custom mappings, this is where Automap could probably help, whereby you would assign specific controller values to the physical knobs and sliders.
Another approach is to ignore Automap, and simply do custom mappings within Cantabile for each incoming cc value from the device (assuming each knob/slider has a pre-assigned default).
Also, you can control specific Cantabile settings as well. It is all done within the Midi Assignments section.

Thanks for replying, Tombuck.
For the time being I have settled for ignoring Automap, and started mapping controlers manually. It works, and the SL Mk II is an excellent controler, so that's ok.
I'll have to read and reread the Automap documentation and see if it makes me any wiser. But the documentation is so badly written, it's a bit of a mystery what Automap can and cannot do, not to mention how to use it.
I guess a bit of trial & error may give some results too.

Automap is just a kind of VST wrapper.
In other words you work with wrapped plugins. The host doesn't care what plugins you load - originals or wrapped ones - the host can't see Automap.

I've been using Cantabile with my trusty Remote37SL for a few weeks. I used the pre-defined B4 Template, but ignored Automap. I haven't gotten much good with Automap. It is really easy to assign controllers to Cantabile elements. Most of mine are organ things. I have a next/previous for the Set List, volumes, and a few synth controls.
