Would it be possible to share a favorite sound on this forum? I mean, since there's lots of discussion about "this synth is better than that synth" etc, would it be possible for people to post an actual mp3 link/file to a sound example?

Also because, I am not familiar with the non-free synths on the market, and I'd like to hear some of the sounds that people here are saying are so great.

There were lot's of audio demos in the dedicated threads about specific synths.
Anyway several threads with comparisons were closed as those examples were discussed until death...
I had some bad experiences with that myself.

My proposal:
Check out the demo versions of the plugins yourself.

Audio demos are nice but i would very rarely (or almost never) do a decision about purchasing a certain plugin based on them.

This is why I had the idea to start a thread.. Then people could share their personal sounds, and others could comment ("I have one just like that" or "cool, how did you do that?" etc..)

Considering the few responses here, I have the impression no one's interested, though.. :(

Oh, well.

Here is one example which i posted in the U-NO-LX thread. One of my favorite sounds at the moment:
Ingonator wrote:I tried to reprogram the "Mellow Strings" preset with U-NO-LX whch i already tried to reprogram with Arturia Jupiter 8V.
The Jupiter 8V preset used a 12dB filter. This is why inside MUX i tried to shape the sound with an EQ.

here is the demo of the Jupiter 8V preset (no external FXs used):
Jupiter 8V Mellow Strings 3

Here is the demo of the "raw" U-NO-LX preset which uses the internal Chorus:
U-NO-LX Mellow Strings w Chorus

Here is the demo of the same U-NO-LX preset with additional FXs from Mutools MUX (EQ + Reverb):
MUXed U-NO-LX Mellow Strings w Chorus

Here is the demo of the U-NO-LX preset using MUX with 2 layers (no Chorus) and additional FXs (EQ + Reverb):
MUXed U-NO-LX Mellow Strings

Personally i prefer the last example (+ the one from Jupiter 8V) but that's a matter of taste.

Here is a zip file withe MUX preset and different versions of the U-NO-LX preset (single preset + 2 layers inclusing "a" + "b" in the name):
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/53230726/U-NO- ... s%20IW.zip
I just finished reprogramming all 64 original Jupiter 8 factory sounds with Arturia Jupiter 8V based on the patch sheets and after some optimizations (based on audio demos) i'll post a free bank at KVR.

Well, first of all, some folks actually do take the time to record and post examples. We've even had a few "guess the synth" games; I think, however, that a single thread with dozens to hundreds of sound bites won't really be of much use. It's better to keep it to a specific topic, and there, examples abound already.

I'm not even going to go into MP3 compression and sound quality, trying to get comparable settings with different synths, leaving out effects yes/no, and all the other things that make comparisons so fiendishly difficult.

Plus, like Ingo said, I would never ever buy a synth just going by the sound demos. I need to play it, tweak it, tease out its sweet spots and find troublesome areas.

I guess i would not have purchased Tone2 Saurus just based on the presets but after doing only a few of my own sounds i was sure i love it. :)
Still one of my favorite synths and i already mad 150+ presets for it.

Just posted this at another thread but thought it would fit here too. It's one of my favorite sounds for sure. The demo was already done before the soundset was published.

This is an audio demo i made using one of my Novachord presets for PPG Wave 3.V called "Mega Nova" (soundbank see my signature):

PPG Wave 3.V - Mega Nova

This preset uses the sample (created using one of my own presets for Soniccouture Novachord, published with kind permission) for both oscillators which are detuned. To this the awesome Chorus FX of PPG 3.V (one of my favorite Chorus FXs) is added.
While rendering the sample it was processed using the Waldorf D-Pole filter plugin. Additionally the PPG Wave 3.V adds it's own character to the sound/sample. The original sample sounds quite boring compared to the result in this preset.

You can also go str8 to the synths official sites, and look for 'audio' or 'sound demos' pages, and then you'll hear more or less audio demos for the synths you're interested in.

While like stated Ingo or Ariston the ultimate move will be to test the synth by yourself with the demo version, I think its always interesting to hear what other people have made with it, and to listen to different demos in different genres, because it shows the synth 'in situ', with people doing many different things than you could have maybe not thought of. Also if there are both tracks and instruments in isolation, you will be able to get an idea of how a synth will stand in a mix. Etc etc. Not counting that its often fres to listen to somebody else music.

Hi,

some time ago i had created small audio demos for all of my presets which are included in the official "Analog" expansion/soundset for Tone2 Saurus.

Those demos use a single preset and no external FXs were used.

Here are the audio demos (all of them WAV files) of 28 of my own favorite presets from my Saurus presets in the "Analog" bank:

Saurus Preset Demo_Rez Arp

Saurus Preset Demo_Tremolo Arp

Saurus Preset Demo_Acidic Saurus 2

Saurus Preset Demo_Catherine Bass

Saurus Preset Demo_Chainsaw Bass

Saurus Preset Demo_Horny Saurus

Saurus Preset Demo_JP8 Low Brass

Saurus Preset Demo_Oxygene 4 Brass

Saurus Preset Demo_Cosy PWM Pad

Saurus Preset Demo_Dreamy Saw Pad

Saurus Preset Demo_Epic Strings

Saurus Preset Demo_Influx Pad

Saurus Preset Demo_Reso Sweep Pad

Saurus Preset Demo_Saulina

Saurus Preset Demo_Swell Pad

Saurus Preset Demo_Vox Humania

Saurus Preset Demo_Bell Morph Pad

Saurus Preset Demo_Bellish Vox Pad

Saurus Preset Demo_Fat Rez Lead

Saurus Preset Demo_Full Feedback

Saurus Preset Demo_High Sky

Saurus Preset Demo_Abacab Fifths

Saurus Preset Demo_Rockford

Saurus Preset Demo_Singing Triangles

Saurus Preset Demo_Sizzle

Saurus Preset Demo_Chorused Wurly

Saurus Preset Demo_Electric Grand 2

Saurus Preset Demo_Tremolo Wurly

In some of those realtime modulation like e.g. Aftertouch or manual change of the Cutoff was used (e.g. first demo)

All of those presets are included here:
http://www.tone2.com/html/analog.html

It's no secret that Saurus is one of my favorite synths. So far i have created around 150+ presets with it. Maybe i'll do a few more audio demos soon.

Here is one demo of a preset inspired by a Jupiter 8 pad/strings sound:
Saurus JP-8 Mellow Strings

I have found that the low end of Saurus could be improved by using an external EQ like e.g. Stillwell Audio VibeQ.

Here are 2 demos of a full track (using only my own Saurus presets including the drums) first without and then with an EQ:
Oxygene 4 Saurus Remix (no FX)

Oxygene 4 Saurus Remix (with EQ)

Not all of those presets are included in the soundbank mentioned above but maybe in future soundbanks.
BTW that track was not supposed to sound exactly like the original song!

UPDATE:
some more examples:

Abacab Saurus Remix (no FX)

Abacab Saurus Remix (with EQ)

All sounds from Saurus except the drums which are from NI Battery 3.
Again that track was not supposed to sound exactly like the original song!

ElecTronic Saurus

3 instance of Saurus, drums are from the "Drums" expansion/soundset for Tone2 ElectraX.

Most of the links above contain WAV files for better quality. In several browser like e.g. Safari for Windows (which i use) the tracks could be played directly. If you want to download the WAV files you could use "Save as..." from the right click menu.

Wow! Lots of stuff here already! :D

I know that a) it's possible to go to youtube or the sites of the synths themselves, in order to hear some samples of patches; and that b) there are many external factors that come into play, such as added effects.
However, I prefer to hear directly from people, as to what their favorite sounds are, or especially, what they think is a unique sound that other synths can't produce.

Uniqueness is what I'm curious to hear.
(I have a few I've discovered on Yoshimi that I'll try to add later..)

Definitely listen to pdxindys stuff ^
some awesome sounds :)

I have a lot of audio demos I made for various synths and I always wait for weak excuses to post them :hihi:
Maybe I'll post a few later :)

Here we go :hihi:
These are all my own presets and I only used the synths without any external FX etc.

ACEDivaZebraFilterScape VADune BE That should be enough for now :hihi:
I have a lot more though :hihi:

I hope some of you like some of the examples!

Edit: Added a multitrack demo to the Zebra examples.

Cheers
