My 8 year old son has just started to take drum lessons organized through his school.
Anyone got any suggestions for a good budget kit that I could get him,assuming that he sticks at it?
Any advice appreciated.

The yamaha dd55's are relatively cheap used

If you want "real" drums, you gan get a kid-sized kit at Toys R Us for about $80-100. Or, as suggested above, an electronic unit. I'd make sure it has two important functions: MIDI, and a headphone jack. (And don't let him play too loud with the headphones on!

)

yeah, im just thinking cast-iron is a bit heavy-going for an 8-year old. that stuff can be heavy, especially LeC.

Although it ensures absolutely unsurpassable analog heat shimmer.

Drum kit for an 8 year old?
