I have been searching the internet and I cant find a clear answer. Seems like the headphone jack to the pc sound line in will get me low quality audio, then i saw you can use the camera connection kit to do it through USB. My question is if all you need is that and a computer program to record audio?
Also i saw that you could record audio from an app to another app if you ipad is jailbroken anyone knows about that?

Nope, not that simple. If you use the CCK, it is to plug in a USB audio interface. Don't have it handy, but there are lists of hardware known to work this way- in general, if the interface requires drivers, it won't work with the iPad.

There's a cheaper ($20-30) option: http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/UCA202.aspx

O great thanks for the info, but how do you connect this , usb to camera kit to ipad , then line out to the pc? Also does that golden line out cable i linked above actually works for better audio with this setup?DrApostropheX wrote:There's a cheaper ($20-30) option: http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/UCA202.aspx

I'm not sure. I think that cable just uses the audio pins (are there pins for audio on the 30-pin connector?) and doesn't do any Digital-to-Analog conversion itself, maybe?
The advantage of using a USB interface is that the Digital (iPad) to Analog (audio out) conversion is done in the interface, and will probably sound better than any D/A conversion done by the iPad itself. Also, sound from two RCA connectors may possibly sound better than sound from one 1/8" stereo mini plug. But yeah, you'd connect the Behringer USB interface (or any USB audio interface) to the CCK and then plug the line-out from the Behringer interface into either your PC or another audio interface you have hooked up to your PC. One advantage to doing it this way is that you can run (conceivably -- I haven't tested this on the Behringer interface, though it works on my Roland interface) digital output from the Behringer into an optical/digital input on another sound card hooked up to your PC so the signal path is all digital (no D/A out of the Behringer and then A/D conversion back into your PC).
It's worth noting, though, that any sound source you run directly into the microphone or line-in soundjack on your PC isn't going to sound great as they tend to just stick any old soundcard onto the motherboard these days, and the A/D conversion will be generally terrible.

Can you confirm whether or not this works with iOS6? I'm hearing rumors that fewer devices are working with iOS6 than with iOS 5.1x.DrApostropheX wrote:There's a cheaper ($20-30) option: http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/UCA202.aspx
