I really really liked this genre but it kinda seems like it's starting to fade away. It seems that there are too many producers trying to break in to the scene making this genre of music.. everyone wants to sound like Avicii, Hardwell, Tommy Trash..etc. But how long is it before every synth/bass melody starts sounding too similar? i'm not sure what to think of this genre..i have no idea how long it's going to last either. I don't know, i guess that all the best melodies have already been written. Very rarely i hear a song and think, damn how did they think of something so good that hasn't yet been used?

what are your guys opinions? how many more really good Number 1 Beatport Progressive/Big Room House/Electro House tracks do you think there are going to be before these genres evolve in to something else?

I agree 100%.
I cant deny that i love me some alesso and hardwell everyonce and a while, but honestly, it is getting very boring.
Seems like every song is just simple melodies with supersaws sidechained for 6 minutes.

OH, but now every other song has a vocalist making it soooo much better (complete sarcasm)

by the way, should this be in production techniques? haha

No matter how bad it is, it cannot possibly be as bad as the speed garage rise and fall.

no matter if that's true or false, it's a mindset that's very good to prevent any innovation.

i think in the "genres" you mentioned, many people use sounds that are "similar" (not exactly the same of course), which creates a style, satisfies expectations and so on. someone once told me music is expectation and surprise.

task: listen to these two tracks, then make a hybrid/mix of this style and the mainroom style you're tired of  it'll be interesting!

I have been listening to house since I was young began around 2007, and wow what have house become. Right now it's going a bit downhill with all those bad vocals over songs and radio edits to fit on the radio bla bla. Many producers just pump out tracks and remixes that they spent total three hours on. Right now it's all about the money.

It's kinda sad, there is no originality and quality anymore.
Hopefully the house scene is gonna get abit more calm.

You guys should listen to more different music. I like to pop some House in every once and a while and it usually sounds better after a while.

You're kinda right... most of new song are based on big saw lead ,some melody or big Zedd Bass and some common FX. But I still love house and now I've discovered Bingo Players - I think their music is still original and I love it. Problem here as said above is that everyone want to be Avicii. I think that actual pop damages house as well... listen to Flo Rida more than half of his new album are just stealed songs from house artists and other pop artist want that sound too... I hope the house calm down soon...

Hi guys

I admit I am a bit confused as to what is considered House music.
All the mentioned artists (avicii, swedish house mafia and the like) are considered House nowadays. Yet if you read (or watch) some interviews with established artists, what they consider House (or US House) and if you search that on YouTube, you'll hear a quite different style.

I guess it's a labeling problem that's all, but an annoying one. How do you guys "label" your own music?

nu disco/deep house is where its at for example

I don't know where these big main rooms are? Is this sound big at festivals? It sounds a lot like tracks they play 5 times every day on the radio to me.

I'm tired of the textbook "progressive" house with an 16 bar break, 8 bar build-up with a snare roll and a cool supersaw melody. Not to mention the Avicii sound...
