A whole slew of new FabFilter plug-ins are now available for Auria.

Just picked up Saturn for Auria for $20! :band2: :wheee:

I know. I bought Auria and it is the BEST DAW for ipad EVER! I was able to create something on my PC, render each track to dropbox and then import it effortlessly into Auria. Mixing is a dream and the rendered finished file sounds amazing.

Now they add a TON of new effects to buy!!! They all look great, but I am going to stick with the app itself for now.

Yo, can you give us some perspective on how much cpu these things chew?
I have this feeling that Auria is only worth it on iPad 4...

I don't have the fab filter plugins, but on the iPad 2 I have been able to mix my music very effectively. I have the microwarmer, echo, and oldtimer plugins, and echo takes about 15-20% of my CPU. I have to freeze tracks all the time, but it makes me more judicious with my Plugin use. I'm trying to resist buying too many plugins because I want to remain focused. That being said , I do want an iPad 4 now!! But, not for a while so I will work with what I have.

ipad 2 here - barely moved the cpu meter with 16 tracks going strong with four tracks having effects.

Thanks for the info Mike, will definitely be buying soon - The Fabfilter plugs are mighty tempting... <3

Makes sense. Does the freezing happen reasonably fast? I wouldn't mind it as long as it doesn't break the flow.

The final argument for an ipad 4 is probably audiobus, yet again.
I gave in and got AB and multitrack daw recently. Just running MS-20 and multitrack in audiobus is giving me troubles on ipad mini.
I don't expect that to be better when i record MS-20 into auria.

Yes, freezing is fairly fast. I think it may go a little faster if I shut off the aux effects during the freeze, but that could be my imagination. Although there are obviously benefits to not having to freeze, it does semi force you to commit, which can be a very good thing.

I cannot run audiobus on my ipad 2 (32GB memory). It just slows to a crawl even with no other apps running in memory. If I load audiobus, a looper and a synth, it's almost impossible for me to create anything.

Wierd - runs pretty well on my iPad2. Can use MT DAW, and at least one synth input with no problems at all, and have been able to record 2 inputs at the same time (depending on which synths I use).

Have you posted over at their forum? Cause that don't sound right at all....

What synths do you have that support ab, Karma?
I was expecting ms 20 to be one of the more demanding ones, so my expectations were low from the start. Recording just a monophonic line worked alrightish at times (few crackles)..anything beyond that...pure garble.
Ielectribe worked pretty well on the other hand. Not surprising that it's more modest.

Anyone tried different synths with audiobus + auria on ipad 2/mini? Sunrizer, NLog, the like?

Aural: while we're at it, can you name the synths you can multitrack record with on your ipad?
I want a workhorse synth that i can use in audiobus before getting an ipad 5 in 2 years or whatever.

As far as Audiobus, I have most of the available synths, like Magellan, all the Korgs, etc. I also have MT DAW and Looper/Loopy (whatever it's called), drumjam and a slew of others.

Does not seem to matter what I run - I get crackles, slow downs, etc. Certainly cannot record with it. I have 4GB of memory/space left on the device, if that matters.

With Auria, the only addon I bought is the video player. I will eventually buy Drumagog. Other than that, I do not have a burning desire to buy any of the others - yet.

The projects I am working on starts on the PC. Each track is rendered clean and then uploaded to Dropbox. Auria loads directly from Dropbox (and saves to) - the fact that I do not have to deal with iTunes is a GODSEND!

I have not tried to record from an onboard synth yet. Not even sure if you can.

Two years?

I foresee an iPad 5 this spring and an iPad6 by next winter. Mo money. This comes from a somewhat unhappy iPad3 owner :-) .

My iPad3 is working mostly great with Audiobus. Some heavy CPU synths will cause a little stutter when an FX app is included in the chain with an output app. I have a feeling that when Auria gets on the bus, AB may not be an option on my setup.

My iPod Touch 4G, which I think is similar to iPad2 specs, will cough pretty easily with only an input app and output app in AB. No blame as the AB devs suggest newer iDevices for optimal usage.

Just an aside, my iPod is running iOS 6 and is very laggy in all operations not just music apps compared to iOS 5. No option to go back which was working great and may have been more effecient with AB.

Still using iOS 5 on my iPad with much better results. I realize there is a difference in processors compared to the iPod but I am still a little less than confident to upgrade. Too bad as I have 4 apps waiting to be installed when and if I update to iOS 6.

Anyhoo, just venting a bit. I'm sure it will all get better eventually.

All the better for me, i'll have an ipad 7 then in 2 years!
I get the frustration, but you also knew what you were getting with no. 3: an ipad 2 with a better screen.
The cpu is really similar, isn't it?
I'm pretty good at sticking with my hardware for a while. It's like with shoes: when i find a comfy pair, i stay in them until they start to crumble away. Having a dad with "obsessive early adopting syndrome" helped ;)

We are in a special situation though with ab and the new ipad.
New hardware, new simultaneous software to tax that hardware to the max.
I've accepted that audiobus runs in demo mode on my device. Crackly music from the future :)

On my almost full 16GB iPad 2, Auria gives me CPU usage warnings with only one instance of Saturn. I was testing it on one of the demo sessions. I had to disable all other inserts before it would work.

Now I want an iPad 4 :hihi:. But it will be a while before that will happen. Serious work still gets done on my desktop only.
