MN Signal Processing just released the Logique Analogique sequencer for iPad
(http://logiqueanalogique.com, review: http://apps4idevices.com/read/logique-analogique.html):
Image

The Logique Analogique sequencer consists of an 8-bit binary counter and four tracks which generate pulse waves when a user-defined majority function depending on the counter bits is true. Switches which select the counter bits (or their logic inverse) and a threshold voltage define the majority function. The output is calculated as the XOR function of the four tracks' signals, which produces a ring modulation like effect.

Running the Logique Analogique app in landscape mode shows the original circuit and n portrait mode, the app shows the (interactive) schematic and an arranger:

The app in action (first playing an approximation of "Jingle Bells", then transitioning more and more towards something that would rather fit into a hardcore techno track):

Hi Fritz :)

This looks v.interesting, will definitely be checking it out! Are there any plans to add ACP, AudioBus, audio background mode?

Many thanks, & all the best <3

Post

Yes, there are definitely plans to extend the functionality of the app. Exporting audio or MIDI data is quite high on the priority list. It also depends on what people want to do with it, so don't hesitate to post here ideas for features you would like to see.

Thanks for the fast reply Fritz :)

Yes exporting midi would be good also. Once I have spent some time with your app, I'll let you know what other features would be nice <3

Is there any way to change the oscillators in this app, frequency, pitch etc?

Yes, the pots on the right side of the screen do just that. Pitch is continuous, i.e. not limited to semitons, meaning that pretty weird effects can be produced this way. Thanks for asking.

Really, any app that is a sequencer should have midi clock sync. Not wist. :-)

It doesn't look like one can change the oscillators shape, but the pitch can be changed by dropping your finger on the 'knobs' down on the right side of the circuit board, moving up frequency goes up, slide down the global. One pitch knob per row.

Tempo, if you didn't find it, is the knob in the top left. The button below seems to 'hold' the current state of the switches/noise.

The other knobs down the left do something like enabling the state of the sequence. It's a beautiful mindfunk.

Thanks for the tips CinningBao :)

Indeed the mind funk factor is high on this one. The GUI reminds me of UGO's Metallurgy - a good thing! <3

Aren't the different knobs not labeled?

Hi Topaz,
in principle I completely agree with you on that. However, I suppose that many people will use this app as a tool for coming up with new rhythms and loops, rather than be using it live. Therefore, MIDI export and Audio Copy Paste has a higher priority right now. But MIDI sync will probably come in a later update.

Fritz

Well, not in the circuit board view. But in the schematic view, it should be easy to determine what does what (at least with some knowledge of electronics). But I consider adding a "help" function in a future version.

Hi Fritz,

I just bought AL and this is one of the nicest noise boxes in some time now.
I am also pleased too here that some functionality will be added in the future.
Since I am a Noise Musician, this is RIGHT up my alley :)

And I am also in FOr MIDI Sync,
and what would really rock is listening to a 'CV Clock' in the Audio Input aka Beat sync. Just a simple threshold gate to so I can hook it up to other 'analog clocks'.

anyway, congrats for this app!

Post

Hi mindnoise,

thank you. I like your idea of listening to a CV clock on the audio input. I suppose that this is only possible with a USB sound card connected to the iPad or with a special adapter cable for the mic input, and that (in the case of USB) the latency might be rather high, but the idea is really cool. The original circuit is actually able to use an external CV clock, so this would make the simulation more faithful to the original. :-)

Best regards,
Fritz
