Comprehensive synth programming guide?

I'm not a synths guy and mainly do acoustic-type stuff (think BFD, ampsims, pianoteq) and rarely (if ever) delve into synth sounds. However, i've recently picked up DCAM Synth Squad and ACE. I know basics of synthesis (ADSR, filters and such) so i can sort of get by, but seeing those synths being as powerful as they are, i feel more or less obligated to learn more about software synthesis and how to do it.

So, can you perhaps recommend a good guide to synthesis (of course, with respect to the type of stuff ACE and Synth Squad are capable to produce)? Preferably in video format, but a good ebook would do too (i'm not too much fond of paper books).
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

+1. I wanted to give you the same answer. It's a paper book, not available as digital download and it has 4 dvd's with 10 hours of info.

You do realise this is one of those questions that gets asked really frequently on a site like this? A little bit of searching will find more than a few starting points for you. Have a look at the stuff referred to in these, for a start...

wow thanks for all the replies! the SOS looks cool, so maybe the Rob Papen one wouldn't be necessary (although it looks like it's really in-depth... maybe someday!).

perhaps i should've searched for different words as my search turned up a bunch of junk...

This was linked up in some thread a while ago: http://rhordijk.home.xs4all.nl/G2Pages/index.htm

Looks like a comprehensive read, haven't delved into it yet myself, though ..

On a side note, nice how your signature says 'From Russia with love' and your location is set as Hell.
