What genre would you qualify this http://dl.dropbox.com/u/21681022/k/2009.mp3 thing? I don't know much about electronic music, I've listened to all of the sample tracks in 'Ishkur's guide to electronic music' 3 times but I still don't get the grip of it.

Thanks.

Without having listened (I'm no authority at all on electronic music categories), this question reminds me of an old tagline:
There are two kinds of people:
People that seperate other people into two kinds,
and people that don't.
Sometime stuff don't fit the pigeon holes we use in our minds to keep the outer world organised. But then, so what
We are the KVR collective. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated. Image

That doesn't bother me anymore, I'm just interested by the practical side of it. Even absurdly detailed classification is cool when one is conscious of its absurdity.

"what genre is this ELECTRO song?"

it's a mystery.

but srsly.. i don't know what to call that.. the intro is very early/mid 90s techno or almost something that would've gotten dropped in a progressive house set (from the mid 90s of course) and then that sorta cheesy melody happens and it makes the whole song sound less techno

this example... of whatever you want to call it... could use some dirt, shuffle, stank and grit.

but it's not what i call electro anyways.. not that anyone cares..

Cool thanks.

It's not what one would usually consider 'electro' in the modern sense (think electro house).

I'm not sure it would really fit in an EDM genre at all.

Post

OK, in that case, what would you rather call it?

Post

'm not sure.

I was wrong, it dose sound like some sort of electronic music, and it does have some early 90s house feel in the beginning, but I'm not sure what how to classify the song when the organ type lead sounds comes in.
