Stereo pan as effect?

I would like to remap the stereo image for a 2 second sound clip, so that it seems to pan from left to right. I have scores of audio and music apps, but can't seem to find one that does this little thing. What I am forgetting about?

you could automate the panning of a track in something like beatmaker 2 or nanostudio, then render to new sample.

Thanks for that suggestion. In Beatmaker, I know how to automate the panning of notes on the piano roll. But I don't see how to do this over the length of an individual sample.

you're right, i assumed there were similar controls for audio tracks but there doesn't seem to be for panning. i also tried with the sampler keyboard, automating the track panning, but the rendered file doesn't reflect it so it's probably panning just midi notes on that track... that is a sad lack of functionality that should be commonplace.

Meteor has panning automation for mono and stereo audio tracks.

Oh it turns out it does work fine in nanostudio... load your audio clip as a sampler in eden, then edit the pan automation for the midi clip. it will accurately shift the pan around throughout the playing of one midi note. i have to re-test BM2 to be sure it can't also do this because it seems like it must...

edit: Yes, confirmed it works in beatmaker as well... the sound I was using for the first test wasn't disctinctive enough.

simply load your sound in a zone of a keyboard sampler, create a clip with a midi note triggering your sound, then edit track panning for the clip. render to new sample, done.
