I am a singer songwritet looking for a IOS drum/rythm machine to use at live gigs. It would be just me and guitar. Im looking for somthing thats easy to get a song backtrack going without alot of fuss.
I looked at DM1 and Beatmaker 2 but not sure if they would wokr well for this type of scenario
Any Ideas?
Thanks

If you use AmpliTube, we just added Loop Drummer inside it that works very well: http://www.ikmultimedia.com/loopdrummer

Unfortunately though Peter, without Audiobus (for any of the IK Multimedia apps), they don't play well with others. I REALLLLY hope Audiobus is something being worked on and coming soon!

We have the SDK and should have some news for you, I just don't have a concrete timeline. But for a guitar player, this works well and is really easy to use - which sounds like what OP is asking for, not a way to string apps together (though that is a great thing too, obviously). You can also send your sequence to the iOS Clipboard with this, which may suit the simplified workflow aspect requested ("without a fuss" as OP puts it).

I have recorded a drum track and bass line in Sonar X1 and then imported the 2 tracks into Garage Band on my ipad. I am running that into my PA. Works decent enough as it gives me the ability to adjust the tracks with my guitar and vocals based on the room.

What I don't like is:
Start button is small. Midi stop start would be nice.
The song loops at the end so I have to add extra silence at the start of the song to give me time to hit the stop button.
Takes too long to close a song and open a new one.
Track level adjust is cumbersome to access quickly.

Looks like I'm seeking a IOS DAW solution to make this a good virtual backup band.

Just use Garageband for iOS. Drag in some of the drum loops it offers for the length of the song (or record your own beats). Heck, if you get into it- do your dums, bass and backing vocals while you are at it.

How about Modrum?

You can load a looped audio track into each saved rhythm

. It has midi clock to start it.

Session band will give you drums and some bass too.. It is pre recorded tho which means a good feel but not a heap of variety unless you're prepared to pay extra and have a lot of space on your iPad taken up.. Might be useful for a few songs tho.

I recommend trying out Beatwave.
It's one of the best free apps in my opinion.
Quite amazing features really.
Excellent morphing/randomizing that can add variety when wanted, easy (and instant) pattern saving and recall, a mixer, reverb, and you can use your own samples, which I've done in this video:
