I recently bought a pair of Mackie MR8 and so far like them but I have a question. Do these lack bass or what?

I had a pair of Alesis M1 Active 520's before this and they had a harder kicking bass. The Mackie's sound like the kick's are almost non existent.

Is it just me being used to more of a "toy" pair of monitors and need to let my ears adjust to the sound of a real monitor with a balanced kick not boosted?
