Anyone know any good sample libraries like sounds2sample and loopmasters, that have good sax samples?
Sax samples similar to Man With The Red Face (in the breakdown)
Not poppy sounding sax samples, but more lengthy afterhours feeling sax samples like in that song

That Embertone Sensual Sax sounds great in the demos, but there's not much information given regarding articulations, keyswitches or range (was more than one instrument sampled, or is the whole range a single stretched alto?)
It's hard to resist at a mere 20 bucks! My finger's hovering over the "buy now" button, but I feel I must do due diligence and ask if anyone's actually used this product yet, and can supply any additional information.

Well, I paid the ginormous price that the samplemodelling folks charged for Mr. Sax T. Had Embertone made their "sensual sax" available at that time, I suspect I would have saved over $140.
Jeez Louise, people pay that much for a pizza . . . .
Mind you, if you 'really' care about having an authentic sax sample library, I don't think there's any better than the SampleModelling products.

Depends on your definition of 'good'.
As a sax player I have to say they're OK for side/background instruments, but not that convincing.
Mr.Sax T is getting there, but you really need a windsynth to give them convincing performances.
Not that most 'average' listeners would know or probably care, but they have a way to go.

I rely on WarpIV. http://www.warpivmusic.com/Bundles.html It's samples of Eric Marienthal.
The sax bundle goes for $399, soprano/alto/tenor/bari.
I have the Mr Sax T by Sample Modeling but it's tons more work than I want to be involved with to get the effect. I'm not ny kind of live keyboard player and I am certainly not going to get a realistic performance live with controllers in addition to keys to worry about. I find having the actual articulation and switching to it means getting some music done. It's Marienthal's attack and tone versus me shaping with controllers, yo.
I'm selling my Mr Sax T btw, I never use it.
for the breathy tenor effect, WarpIV is certainly suitable. It's as realistic as samples get. It is keyswitch-city, it's about finding the gesture you need and switching to it. It will switch to a release sample to get a fall or like that as well.
These Embertone things are inexpensive because they are simple, you know. Comparing something with tons of articulations with something that doesn't have them makes no sense.

Just purchased Embertone's Sensual Saxaphone. The videos won me over quite quickly. Sounds sexy!

This is the way I would go... unfortunately, no longer available as a "Liquid Instrument" w/ Melodyne player, etc... only available in their own Elastik player format now, but the content is good... and I think the OP will get the most out of a phrase library, IMO, for chopping and looping purposes. They also have a trumpet library, same deal with Elastik player...Tricky-Loops wrote:You could try Saxophone from Ueberschall...
You need to limit that rez, bro.
