Relab LX480 A/B test versus Lexicon 480L. Most impressive hardware vs plugin test ever? You bet!

Frankly.. I'm blown away by this! There's a tiny tiny difference in grainyness/highs/spatial, I think.. I may be affected by placebo but I feel the hardware is grainier than the plugin but we are talking about incredibly small differences at 100% wet source! EXTREMELY impressive A/B shootout.
Cheers!

Certainly sounds the same to me. I'd be interested to hear a test like this against NI's RC 48.bmanic wrote:

Aren't they offering a free license to anyone who can spot/prove any, even incredibly small difference like that one you've noticed? You just saved yourself $500 in that case.bmanic wrote:

Not really.. I'd have to do a real double blind test, setup by Martin. I'm 99.999% sure I'd fail it.
I'll gladly pay him for LX480. I love his dedication and hard work. The least I can do is to pay him for the work.. and I will at some point. Right now I'm a bit saturated with high quality reverb plugins. AriesVerb, ValhallaRoom, Lexicon LXP, Exponential audio Phoenixverb, EAReverb, Empty250 and Arts Acoustic verb make for a nice setup. I'm pretty much covered for a while. Someday I'll get it.. for sure.
Cheers!

$500 is cheap if you love that sound! i been looking for a chamber verb. i still use impulses for that. the LX480 sounds good in the center an the empty250 on the sides. that's been a magic combo for me.

Have you tried exponential audio Phoenix? I think it does a pretty darn nice chamber.

i gave Phoenix a whirl last night it sounds good but doesn't get close to my putnam echo room impulses. i was tired when i gave it a shot i will try it again next weak when i get some horns in here.

yes its a good test. Best thing is to not look at the screen and not count the bars...I thought I heard more weight and bass in the Lexicon but after doing the test blind it was much more difficult...

You don't have to wait. I tested both. It's a no contest really. RC 48 is TOTALY different sounding to LX480 Complete. Very nice but not the same at all. Entirely different reverb imho. But it is usable all the way.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Certainly sounds the same to me. I'd be interested to hear a test like this against NI's RC 48.

The lite only has a Random Hall algoriddum the full version has all the algoriddums.
Has anybody ever really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?
