Bad news:

Since customers seem to be not willed to pay for vst effects (trasher sales say so) ReFX Filterbank is discontinued.

Good news:

I uploaded a fully functional version to my homepage at www.obertone.com
Since it is for free there is no GUI & no support!

- 100% Analogue Filter Sound
- 19 Filter types
- 2 Filters in serial or parralel
- asymetric filtering (303 like)
- 2 free routable LFOs
- 2 routable Envelope followers
- Multitap surround delay
- Infinite filtered Tap feedback!
- BPM sync to host
- AM & phase modulation

Have fun!

Hi,

I am a paying customer and I legally own all of reFX's VSTI's. I also have a 'shit-load' of VST effects that I paid for. I guess I am "The Few, The Proud, The Paying Customer."

Post

I forgot to add that I had never heard of ReFX Filterbank before.

yup...

crusher offers me nothing I need or couldn't get in a number of other ways.

A decent filterbank would be high on my purchase list though.
Someone shot the food. Remember: don't shoot food!

I love the refx synths I just didn't need another degrader (w/ so many free one's). A filter bank though....
I hope ReFX continues to develope effects :(

thanks markus,
I didn't know of the filter bank; but I read of folks looking for a good filter quite often.

btw thanks for the free filter. It sounds great.

Post

Thanks alot for this Feilei! Gonna check it out later tonight.

Is this the same filter used in Vanguard, btw?

Post

THANKS :!:
i'd rather have a mullet than a comb-over.
fortunately, i have neither.

It's a bit hard to use with the labeling. that 360 degree delay is awsome but I keep getting huge feedback spikes (sound like saw waves kind of) even if the delay send is low. :?

I guess it still has bugs???

> thanks michael,

nope. thanks markus

No support. This is alpha stage software. Use it or delete it.

>Is this the same filter used in Vanguard, btw?

I call it Vaguard's grandma.

Ok then, "repost" from here (thanks valley) to sing along the chorus:

:-o You are not serious about the "trasher sales say so", are you?
Trasher in VST age is more than old, without an update you couldn't expect customers to run for it! Sure people bought it when it was new, didn't they?
Otherwise I seem to be one of the few who bought it (in bundle with QuadraSid and TBL that was)?

The specs of the Filterbank look amazing, it certainly deserves a GUI and being offered at a reasonable price! :!:

I sent Mike the sourcecodes on July 2003. He was busy with X-phrase (Steinberg) and had no time to do a GUI.
Now it's March 2004 and i decided to release it as freeware on obertone.com .
If you want a 'pro version' with GUI write do Mike. Maybe if enough people ask for it he's motivated enough to do it.

uhmmmmm... I'd just like to echo whats already been said here.. a Filter plugin would be something I'd pay for.. a crusher effect is not.

There are only so many places in music where a crusher is needed.. its really limited.

however most all synthesis can use a filter (imo)

Besides.. you have already gone so far.. why not polish the effect up, add a gui, and try charging a fee for it to test the waters?

what do you really have to lose? :?

Going further.. I'd recommend refx consider hiring on a marketing/sales director. You guys seem to make some of the greatest, low cost plugins.. but fail to really clinch the deal (so to speak).

Passive salesmenship in an aggressive market.

Maybe a part-time hand.. perhaps you could even check the local colleges and universities. I'm sure there are many avid marketing majors who would jump at a deal like this.
