Hey all, I'm looking for something like Latigo (which doesn't seem to be available anymore, unless I'm being an idiot?), which has both phrases and samples of Latin/Cuban percussion. I need the best authenticity possible (multiple samples per instrument/rotating hits/etc.). If there's nothing decent with phrases, then simply the samples are fine as long as they're massively authentic and real in the way they play.

What do you recommend? Price is not an issue. Thanks!

Hi

Re: Latin Percussion loops and libraries

Loops:
I like these:
http://www.thelooploft.com/products/cel ... ssion-vol1

However - the loops are generally only a bar or so in length - and soon become too repetitive for a whole tune. Great resource for learning though.

Also - for learning about Percussion patterns - check out the Latin Percussion sales videos on Youtube:

Sounds:
The most useful sampled sounds for Latin are:
EZ Drummer have a library - which is much more useful if you also happen to have Superior Drummer 2 - much easier to mix.

My preferred choice is:
Battery 3 sound library in Kontakt 5
K5 has the extended Bus Architecture - which makes adding effects on groups of groups very easy.

Kontakt 4/5 also have a pretty good library of Latin Percussion.

I've since been on Ebay - and purchased a few Congas, Bongos, Timbales and so on
After watching the above videos - making your own loops is easy enough to do - and Kontakt or Recycle make a great job of correcting my timing.

I've been intending to make my own LP library of loops and instruments - but I've just never had enough time yet.
