Hello everyone,
I've bought a brand new Ipad mini recently and I'm really happy with it, but have some questions regarding music production on Ipad:
1. what "virtual midi" is for? So far I noticed I can use one app (like FL STudio) to play sounds of another one, but can I send any messages like CC or automation (cut off for example) from one app to another?
2. is it possible to run more than one instance of app ( like NLog synth or any other one)?
3. I have camera connection kit where I can insert SD card. I was thinking to use it as a storage for samples. Is any software that can read samples from a card and copy to my software?
4. Is any decent sample editor for Ipad? (like Audacity?)
I would be really thankful if anyone can help me.
Cheers,

1) Virtual MIDI is a way for the apps to talk to one another. Just like you noticed with FL Studio. Yes, you can send CC and automation. But keep in mind your apps need to be aware of these parameters. Some apps are aware of these MIDI options, some are not.
2) It is not possible to run multiple instances of a single app. That is a limitation of iOS. But you can install an iPad and iPhone version if both are available. I think NLog has both an iPhone and iPad version.
3) iOS doesn't allow you to use it as a file system. Loading of photos only.
4) I'm not too familiar with what is available. I've used Hokusai. I think there was a recent thread specifically asking about this.

For your question 4, I use Twisted Wave. And I may get Hokusai too.

Thanks for the answers! It's bad Ipad doesn't support SD Card as a storage
I just bought Beat Maker 2 and I think it's best DAW for Ipad so far! And I think sampler which is built in Beat Maker 2 is enough for me.
