Chainer and Xlutop - what's become of them?

I am a reg. user of Chainer 1.03 and I know the web site for it is still up www.xlutop.com ...and I used to be able to contact the developer, Thomas, via the email links there.
I know Thomas was working on a ver 2.0 as of several months ago and that it was to include many wonderful new features.
I have written to Thomas and used to get replies within a day or so. However, for the last several months no replies at all come back from him.
This is very sad to me, since I consider Chainer 1.03 one of the most useful and important apps [hosts] that exist... and I know ver. 2.0 was going to be a major improvement.
So... I am wondering if anyone here might know Thomas personally and have any info as to what has become of him and Chainer...???????
I hope he is alive and well, but I am actually quite worried that something bad may have happened to him.
thanks for any info's.

I would like to know, too. Chainer is my most-used audio application.

I just went to get the info available at internic.net about the site, and it says that:
Updated Date: 08-feb-2004
Not sure excactly how it´s been updated though, but if you go to www.networksolutions.com, listed as registrar and click on the little whois button on top of the screen (whois.networksolutions.com won´t work) then you´ll find his phone number and adress.
I could have posted that here, but found it a little too private. Who knows if he from tomorrow wanna keep that stuff away from the public and changes his record, but still it´ll be here on KVR?
So I suggest that you give it a try calling that number, or send a snail mail to his adress.. Maybe there´s just a problem with his email that he ain´t aware of.
Good luck, let us know how it´s turning out

Hi
Blimey Max thats a bit negative; think positive dude - he probably got the asshole with people E-Mailing him or got a girlfriend ( or an alternative gender partner), or just another interest.
Shit some people just give up the ghost.
I am also a 'Chainer' user.
Sometimes updates just piss me off-all that reistalling and hoping things will work OK!
Flipper.

this has been mentioned many times.
Xlutop seem to be busy working on the free buzz vst apater, without sounding negative I do find that a bit odd.
I think this has to be the most awaited update.

ok sorry my mistake,
a post to at least let us know where all the promised features are would be supernice.
an estimated date of release for the update.

Not really. Once you become a company, you're no longer really a private citizen. Sometimes companies need to be contacted, for whatever reason. That's why there has to be contact information when you register a domain.soma wrote:BTW roman it's a bit scary how you can track people down like that...
For instance, you can get my work number and address if you do a whois on my personal domain...

Yep, there´s no big secret in this, and still, if people wanna remain anonymous, they don´t really have to put their real name and adress in the information which is being published.
Therefore if you find somebodys adress that way, you also have to assume that he/she wanted it that way.

It seems Thomas/Xlutop wants to be one of the most mysterious persons around here, because in none of the Chainer threads during the last months he never wrote anything.polac wrote:Well, it's not true that Thomas/Xlutop is involved here, he has better things to do.

It is also a bit troublesome to people who are considering the purchase of Chainer. Who wants to buy a product that seems to have been abandoned?
As for the search by domain name, I have used it a few times and it is a bit scary. Actually, I used it a few weeks ago when someone here boasted that no one on this forum knows who he is or where he lives. That person has a domain in his signature so it was quite easy to find the information tied to the domain. Domains are not always owned by a company. I have a domain for personnel use, and thus, people who know that domain can find my personnel information that was entered as a means to be contacted in case of billing or set-up issues. I don't understand why there is no way to opt out of having this information available. I worry that it will be used by mass marketers. They seem to use every other means available to harass people.
