So i bought the new tool from kilo hearts cause it sounded like a new idea.
Now i don't get anything really useful out of it, that i can not best with either spl transient shaper or noveltech character.
Which material do you use it on?

It's a weird one, pretty unique. I've got the demo, haven't had a good detailed listen, so far just ran it on full songs.
Can squeak pretty good.

First impression on a track was always nice so far, but i always found a better substitute in the progress..

Havent used it on single kicks yet. Will try that. I compared it to plugins like the spl transient designer, since fattening up drum loops is the only thing i had any success on.. Yet.

I thought it is a Phase Rotator and not a Transient Designer?

It's about time we had control over the relative phase of our overall frequency bands. I have to admit, my first experiment with it on a full-frequency-range bassline didn't produce results to write home about, but I'm impressed with what others have done with it and am sure I'll find out which things to use it on.
It really needs a short manual with some usage tips, as it's such an unusual effect.

Isn't it a bit like the Cerberus Epoch ?
Can we do similar things with ToneBooster Flx (or even VarietyOfSound Fix) ?
I am not a phase expert, and this KhZ Fx teases me
Phase seems to be th new black

This is not a transient designer in a classical sense!
It simply causes some freqs to "arrive earlier" than others, think of it like the Haas effect but for frequency content instead of the stereo image.
You can hear this effect rather extreme all over Autechre stuff for example:
It makes the drums "zap".
I guess I'll have to get this plugin since I'm using much too complex plugins for it at the moment (Mainly Zebrify).
It has always been some kind of "secret trick" among sound designers.
I'm sure someone with better english will explain it better in a second.
Cheers
Dennis

The Disperser works with Allpass filters while the Epoch works with Comb Filters...but both change phases...sinkmusic wrote:Isn't it a bit like the Cerberus Epoch ?

The ToneBooster Flx doesn't rotate phases, at least not intentionally...

I looked at Disperser a couple of days ago. I resisted the urge to buy it even though the description is cool and it is inexpensive. The reason is that the sample audio they have on the web site completely failed to inspire me. I listened to them again a few minutes ago, and I am still unimpressed. Does anyone have a really impressive before/after clip that demonstrates what this would do. Thanks.
