I just posted our review of Adagio Violins Volume 1 from 8Dio.

Ask here if you have any questions or thoughts. This is one of those libraries that I didn't appreciate at first, but once I got used to it, this thing was amazing.
I'll have a few of our own examples up once I get back from vacation to demonstrate some of the intricacies of the library, so let me know if there is anything specific you want a video of and I'll try to do a video for it!
Enjoy!

Does 8Dio have occasional specials/sales?

They were routinely having "Wacky Wednesday" sales that featured a product at a discount for a day or so. They started getting less frequent.....sometimes appeared on a different day of the week.
There is currently a Memorial Day 25% off everything sale. Discount code MEMOSALE

If anyone has any questions, let me know. 8Dio, as mentioned above, do have sales. They usually aren't group buy type discounts, but they are sufficient for some savings.
The sale right now requires a minimum of three items and three hundred dollars in products, I believe.

There is a sale right now.35% off if you buy three times and the total is over $299 (or maybe one item has to be $299) I think.

Hi. To comment on your article instead of 8Dio sales practices (
) I think it's really good. It covers a lot, it's a nice mixture of text and visuals, and what I especially like is that it quite takes the point of view of an average normal user who starts from a "Ah, now, how does this strange thing work ?"-perspective and leads to "Once you've got the basics, it's really not complicated" in a comprehensible way. Well done.

Thanks for the kind words! That's exactly the approach I try to take in my reviews, so I hope it can help somebody. I generally prefer in-depth instead of skimming the basics.
And I don't really mind the sales talk as it gets more attention to the thread and the review may help in the sale decision. At least I hope so!

Sorry for diverting thread to sales talk, but if it gets the review more attention as you say, maybe it's a good thing.
It's sort of a funny sale, because if you want adagio violins only you need to order that for $399 and then pick out two other items for $9 each so 3 items are in the basket. Then the 25% is deducted.

It's no problem, I promise! The purpose of reviews are to help our readers make better purchasing decisions. To inform people better than the product page can do.
Of course, we like new people to see the reviews and like our site as well, and I like seeing comments on what is good or bad about reviews at ProRec(so by all means, please feel free to discuss what you want to see, or what you think isn't good in the review!).
But sales talk is fine.

Over the next couple of days, I hope to get a few demonstration videos up of this library and the other Adagio sections, if possible.
So if there is anything specific you want to see or know, let me know. We're also working on reviews of the other sections so let me know if there is any questions you want answered in the reviews.

Let me put it this way: besides the advocacy for this in the review, it's certainly provided enough information to solidify my position against buying it.

One thing I'm confused about, and I think this comes from 8Dio is, in the video explaining the articulations for their solo oboe, he claims that they eschew velocity crossfade strictly, and here it goes into the use of it.
(while I understand everything here, the audio demos of these things - at least originally - were not at all convincing. that may not be fair to the library as it could just have been made by someone without enough care)
I would want to know what the 'dynamic' button does technically. We see 'this will be better with the time stretch engine of Kontakt 5'; does this feature rely on time stretch? that kind of thing. I found his statements dodgy. Here no one is trying to justify a lack of articulations but that seemed to be the case with the oboe, resort to this 'dynamics' button rather than a dynamic articulation itself.
