Hey everyone, just wanted to start a conversation here and get some your thoughts. I've been fooling around with a few guitar apps for iPad and iPhone for the past few weeks and like features from both these but an undecided as to which one is better. So..... Guitar! by Smule vs. Galactic Guitar???

I don't have either of these apps, but the main criteria with music apps for me is:
1. Audio quality. (does it handle audio in a clean logical manner.)
2. Useability. (does it fit into your workflow or does it make you change the way you do things. Does it work well with other apps i.e. Audiobus or pasteboard. Does it have useable tools.)
3. GUI. I can put up with a crappy looking UI if it rocks sound-wise.
IMO
Some dev's are great at programming a solid sound engine, or great at a wonderful GUI, but it takes a real gifted dev or team to make a wonderful sounding app that's easy to use and looks great too while giving the functionality that the user actually needs.
What's best for you may not be what's best for someone else's needs.
Jerry, what's most important to you? Is it for live use? Does it need to be Audiobus enabled?
I have tried Guitarism and like it. It has some interesting features, and it can be run into the input slot of audiobus for further processing with Jamup Pro, bringing it closer to a recordable instrument. By itself it leaves a little to be desired, even when played well.
The SmartGuitar in Garageband is also nice to play with.
