Hehe!

I put 6 little pneumatic rams on my acoustic.
I need to grind up some Stanley blades for hammers, and borrow a welder to put them on a nut. For now it has flathead bolts as hammers. This will go far better on electric, the hammers click, but there will be no compressor noise.
Need something better than tape to hold it on, and I can try fretting. The low E is loud as anything, and high is very quiet. It's fun! Sounds African maybe? Certainly like some hammered string instrument.

I am the mad inventor of the pneumatic guitar lol

Excellent! How are you controlling the rams?

Awesome nix! Now stick the sound through Expresso ;)

if you look to the right of the guitar, there is series of black microswitches with white buttons.
they need a little more space between, but they are reasonably easy to depress, and I can fashion some pivoting to keys with a little leverage to make it quicker.
I will up the audio demos as soon as I record it- will certainly run through Espresso then 8D
The next thing is to fit it up to the electric,
I want to rebuild all the parts too, it's a really rough job atm, but I'll call the experiment a success-now to refine it.

Thanks for the encouragement fellas!

don't forget to use decent strings. these hardly ever break.
I'm tired of being insane. I'm going outsane for some fresh air.

Post

hehe
The problem is you have to change altitude to get the different string's thinness right!

I always thought I'd cash in selling dehydrated water-
just add water hehe

Wow that is awesome! I wish I had the time to make something like that :) Props!

Hey thanks mate,
It's more an investment in hardware than a lengthy build.
Even little rams are quite expensive($400 for the air stuff),
and an airbrush compressor($200).
When I do the rebuild I will use angle iron for the mechanism,
instead of bending bar.
Gotta try and get it moving real beautiful.
It's sloppy as joes atm
The volume of the top 2 strings may be a problem.
Anyway, I should get into gear and get some steel cut.
All the rest of the components cost about $30.

It's kinda like a typewriter, could have 6 letter stamps.

This thread needs sound samples, pronto!

'ite,
I want to make more of a precision tool,
the parts are being drilled atm,
they are cut.
Perhaps on Friday I will have it fitted up.
It's gonna be so much better mate.
I'll fit it to my hexaphonic strat clone,
have wedged the bridge and drawn in the saddles.
So yeah- maybe this weekend I can post some sounds.
Should be interesting with the hexaphonic.
Cheers

Here it is fitted to the electric,
and you can see it better.

I used the lego just for a jury-rig measure,
until I make it tidier.

Will up the audio in the next couple of days.
The biggest fault is the volume-
ie. it's quiter than using fingers.

I'm running at 30 psi now,
I was running at 60 to get it loud,
but I broke all my spare strings hehe

Wow, this looks cool!!!! I really do want to hear what it sounds like.

Here is the first demo- 30 psi 8D
https://soundcloud.com/nix808/pneum-open-0
It's playing the strings open with both hands on the buttons.
Will be back later today with fretted.

edit-omg a circular motion will work and I have 6 servo motors.
Will be back with the plucked string pictures at some stage
