I bought RC in the sale. I installed and chose option to launch application when install finished but it crashed.
Do I need to find the .dll and manually copy it to my vstplugins folder?

When I launch RC in stand-alone mode, I get "could not set midi device" error and program is no longer responsive. I just get the RC icon in the task bar indicating that it must be running.
How do I get RC to see my midi device on startup?
How do I install the vst version of RC?

You said it yourself in the first post...
Locate the .dll in the "Program Files" folder
...( on my system: Program Files(x86)\RapidComposer )
Both the 32 bit and 64 bit .dll should be there.
Copy the .dll and place it in your VST folder.
...( on my system: F:\VST Programs\RapidComposer\RapidComposer_64.dll )
I've used it in REAPER and Studio One with no problems.
Edit: Just noticed your other question.
When I start up RapidComposer in Standalone (not very often as I tend to use it as a VST), the program minimises itself to a very tiny box on the top left of my monitor (I thought this was to do with me running 2 monitors, but I'm not sure on that).
This minimisation just happens the first time you run RapidComposer (and also the first time after a program update). It should remember the size you closed it at for the next time you run it again.
As you've noticed yourself, the program itself is also shown on the taskbar.
Anyhow, if you grab the bottom left of the minimised program and extend it out you'll see the "Settings" menu across the top. You should be able to set the MIDI interfaces you have in that menu.
Hope that helps.

Thanks much Dunc. I appreciate the response.
I forgot that I'd installed it on my external drive.
Also thanks for tip about the minimization. I'll keep a watch for it.
It wouldn't open at all for me in stand-alone mode. Just the error box and no response. I had to terminate the program in Task Manager.
Would you say I'd have better success at getting support through the MusicDevelopments website rather than here in the forum?

Attila (the main Dev) usually chimes in here in KVR every few days or so.
Try both places I guess.
He usually is pretty responsive to errors and the like and has a willingness to fix em.

Sorry, I just read this topic today. It is the fastest if you send me e-mail to info at musicdevelopments, or use the contact form on the website because I do not get notification when a new topic appears on this forum.
The VST question was answered: you need to copy the dll to your shared VST folder manually.
The minimization issue is something I have never heard of until now. I have a feeling that it happens only on two monitor setup, I will try to reproduce that, and double check the window size.
If you close the "could not set MIDI device" alert window, the program will continue, and it will not display it again. Beware, sometimes the alert is arranged behind the main window, and you need to activate it from the taskbar.
Regards,
Attila

Thanks Attila. I tried to activate it from the task bar but it did not respond.
I can probably work it out after I play with it some more.

I removed all evil modal alerts during startup, so this won't be a problem anymore. The update will be available early next week.
