Have you seen PUSH? You can play also play tunes with a Launchpad. Still helps to play keys too imho. I don't know any apps that would help you.

I can't offer any advice - mainly because I'm too drunk :oops:

But don't apologise mate. The day you stop learning is the day you stop growing (or something like that).
Ask away, but just don't ask about that damn wall of sound shite again :hihi:

"Oooh I dont know. Sounds a bit scary"
"It's not scary. You just lose a sense of who you are and all that sh!t"

If you mean learning the notes of each individual key then yeah there is an easier way. Just remember that each "note" in the scale is either a whole tone or half tone away from each other. So the major scale is -

W = whole tone ( C to D for example)
H = half tone ( C to C#)

Root note (key note) - W - W - H - W - W - W - H

(C - D - E - F - G - A - B - C)

Learn the whole tone/half tone relationship and you will have no problem
finding the notes for any particular key

As far as key being important for electronic music just depends what sort of
music you are making. Trance uses music written in key (usually) and for ambient music the concept of key really doesn't exist.

It's worth learning how to play at least some rudimentary keyboards, or at the very least get to know your way around the keyboard and improve your timing.

Practice is a must, and learning to play recognizable tunes by ear is really valuable. I'd suggest taking at least a few piano lessons - look for a local teacher or if you have a relative or friend who plays, ask for some advice and help.

You can learn to play keyboards without sheet music. The easiest and cheapest way is to listen to other people's music and figure it out for yourself. It might not get you to a very advanced stage but it does teach you a lot about how music is constructed and you'll learn at least something about improvisation.

stiff_miner has given you some good hints.

There are no shortcuts for learning, so you need to get your hands dirty. Although you don't need to learn notes but if you have enough time in your life, I advise you to do it the hard way. Anyway, the hard way is to search for 'Music Theory' in the Tutorials/books/websites and start from there (with notes and everything).

If you don't want the 'notes' way, then start learning what is the 'musical scale' (examples: Major, Minor, Blues ..etc) every scale has 'its' keys and chords (not a rule, but for the beginning understand this) so you need to know which scale (or scales)'your' song has and which chords are there. OK?

So, you have to learn Scales and Chords and then Chords Progression. so till now they are three things: 1.Musical Scales 2.Chords 3.Chords Progression and 4th is 'Song Structure' (which is easy) (example: intro - verse - pre-chorus - chorus - verse - pre-chorus - chorus - outro). In dubstep it has different names but the idea is the same. Well, just to confuse you more and more :hihi: (But you need to learn all this, seriously)

You can find the above information in the net/books/tutorials illustrated with keyboard keys not staff. A good start is here:
http://www.howmusicworks.org/109/Sound- ... atic-Scale
They have also a free app called Songtrix Bronze Edition. I did learn from the help file of Chord Wizard program years ago, but now they made it even better!

btw, I use a program called 'Piano Companion' on my Android phone (there is a free edition) and of course there are many other apps that can help you to know the scales and their chords.

'sound of wall' was a good reason to hear some old nice songs :wink:

stiff_miner nailed it: for getting you started it's nothing better then at least know what key plays what note.
