The daegeum (also spelled taegum, daegum or taegŭm) is a large bamboo transverse flute used in traditional Korean music. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daegeum (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daegeum))

I made it pre-study for make commercial products. so i release it as donation ware.
Im planning to make more and more instruments that cover almost all of traditional korea inst.

All samples supported by MARTE lab. (http://music.dongguk.ac.kr (http://music.dongguk.ac.kr))
Sample processing & kontakt programming by punktire ( punktire@gmail.com (mailto:punktire@gmail.com) )

This kontakt based daegeum has no custom gui and some other easy to use functions.
just delay and reverb. and you can easily make timbre change with mod wheel (cc# 1)
You can easily find some daegeum music in youtube so can imitate real playing.

All the thing is not perfect, cause It's my first challenge. webpage has 90% of korean and some english description.
I'll find way to make multi-language pages.

you can get this instrument at

thanks.

Hm that is a peculiar instrument. I think it sounds a little sterile because there is no vibrato and now fluctuation in tone whatsoever.

It would be nice to hear a demo track how this is typically played.

this is the instrument being played

Ah nice!

However I don't think it's possible to play the VSTi like this. For a commercial product, there need to be more options to get that natural and living sound.

thank you for replying~

i have to improve playability.
and will make some demo playing.

more and more instrument will implemented soon as possible.
so support me some one who love these project.

Hi punkfire,

I am looking for Kontakt or EXS24 traditional Korean instruments and wonder if you have any updated versions of the Daegeum or any others. Thank you.

Just so you know ... all the posts above yours are from 2013. You might get lucky ...
This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

Always hoping for a bit of luck.

The download is still available on the page that is linked to in the OP.
My main tools: Kontakt, Omnisphere, Samplemodeling + Audio Modeling. Unify = godsend. Tari's libraries also rock.

Post

Just a mention of lots of free Korean instruments here...
